HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT
By JoAnne, 3/11/12
On our 22nd honeymoon, we used the "SpaScape" package - $499 - on March 10, 2012, which was to include 1 night's accomodation, two full hour massages, sauna, dinner and breakfast. My wife received an excellent massage from Anthony; my own massage was the poorest I have ever received. The spa room was closet-sized, and the floor creaked like a haunted house every time the masseuse moved - which was anything but "soothing". The dinner was delicious, but it didn't come with ANY beverage!!! My wife ordered iced tea, and I had diet coke - and we were told that we had to pay $7.50 for the drinks because "drinks weren't in the package". The waitress' service was great at first, but then we had to wait over 20 minutes after our entrees were cleared away before the desert arrived. And then another 10 after we finished desert to get our bill. So while planning on going across the street to see a movie after dinner, we ended up missing the start time. In the morning - NO HOT WATER in the shower. Unacceptable. We mentioned it to two different front desk people, and they actually responded "yeah, that sometimes happens when people all get up at the same time". I retorted - you are a HOTEL...people get up at the same time EVERY DAY. The desk staff there could not care less, and did absolutely nothing for our inconvenience. Lastly upon going to the breakfast, we were then informed that only a "continental" breakfast is part of the package (choice- a muffin OR a pastry), even though the brochure & website does not say this. We were then informed that we could order from the breakfast menu, and they would credit $5 from the package toward each order. EXCEPT here is the kicker - their continental is on the menu at $5.95 including coffee. We were credited $5....and we were ALSO charged $2 per person for coffee. This experience was EXCEPTIONALLY POOR, and we could never recommend this to anyone. Lastly, if you look at what we received "a' la' carte" from their price list - 2 massages at $100 each; the room on the bill shown at $99, two continental breakfasts at $6 each; the three course dinner at $28 for the salad an entree, plus maybe 7 each for dessert (dessert price not on their menu); that is $70 combined for dinner. That totals $382, plus whatever they charge for 10 minutes of sauna time. So their $499 "package" seems to be a rip-off.

Spa Day with girlfriend
By Diana, 1/24/12
I received three services as a gift. This was my first time to a spa but I found the experience totally refreshing and relaxing. I found both the staff and the services I received to be very professional. The place was very clean and well decorated. During my wait between services, the staff was very attentive and asked if I would like a beverage while I waited. The lunch was awesome with a choice of four entree, three desserts and a number of beverages to select from. I would highly recommend Mario's International Spa to a friend. It was a grand experience and wonderful day spend with my friend. Thank you!

Mani-pedi combo
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/29/11
I've been here before and usually got a massage and pedicure. This time, I went for a mani-pedi. The pedicure was awesome. She did a nice job. The manicure on the other hand was a different story. She did a great job and it looked awesome. However, within 18 hours, my two pinkies and my right hand ring finger had completely fallen off. Not chipped, the polish just came off in a clump. I called and they said to come in. I got another manicure for free. All in all, i recommend it.

DO NOT buy a gift card
By John, 9/12/10
My wife and friend each bought $200 in gift cards. When they planned to go my wife was sick and friend pregnant. They figured an honorable company would take care of them in some way. Not this place. They will scam you. Manager will not take calls. Stay away.

Would not recommend
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/14/09
I went to Mario's to experience my first Pedicure...I also booked a manicure. For what I received and the time and compassion spent with me, they were way overpriced. I ended up with polish on toes and the nails..with nary a concern to clean it up. My finger nails chipped within twenty four hours and the nails were not totally covered....They have got to be kidding, thank goodness I had a gift card for most of the service...my daughter also had the same services and she was not impressed. Not to mention their selection of colors was comical. I work for a neighbor hood salon in Sagamore Hills and they by far surpase this elite organization that herd people through for the money. Our salon takes their time and they focus on customer service, not how to get them in and out quickly. I would never recommend these services from this location. I just hope I am not gifted another card...because it is a waste of good money! Very disappointed, I will stick to a salon that cares!

Can't Wait To Return
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/23/09
I was given a gift card for my birthday, so I used it at the Fairlawn location. I was treated so well at this location, even though the place was busy. I was treated as if I was the only one in the spa!! their attention to detail was awsome, they really went the extra mile with all of the services. The managers at the spa treated me as if I was family!!!! actually treated everyone like family.. I'm going back ASAP.. Mario's is the best of the best and I will continue to being a repeat customer. You call this a hotel?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/12/09
I checked in looking forward to a cocktail. Bar CLOSED. I was told "our bar across the street was open" We decieded to go for a swim and think about dinner. Pool CLOSED. I saw the restaurant was closed too. I should of turned around and went someplace else when I got to the hotel. The Inn is so run down. And that brings me to our room. Old outdated TV,( I think we got 5 channels) dirty, smelled of mold, carpet worn out,no glasses in the room, no ice machine. We went to complain the next morning, you can tell the front desk girl was trying to come up with excuses why the Inn is the way it is. Mario, I would not want my name on this place. I'm afraid to try your Spa.

Read the fine print
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/30/08
After a great stay at Mario's with a girl friend i decided i would like to return with my husband so I purchased $200.00 in gift certificates at their open house but paid $150.00. When i called to book my stay I was told that i could not use the gift certificates on any package or to stay over night, i could only use them on full price spa services. My gift cards have $200.00 cash value written on them but that didn't seem to matter. I was told there was nothing they could do because i purchased the gift certificates during a sale. It's like buying a Giant Eagle gift card but you can't use it to buy milk if it's on sale. When i asked to speak with a manager i was given her voice mail, i left two messages and have yet to receive a call back. What a waste of money!

Make sure you ask first!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/14/08
Went to get a massage in Fairlawn. No problem!! 5 minutes into the massage I knew something was not right? by the time the massage was nearly over, I asked the girl how much experience she had doing massage? She was a nail tech!!!!! with very little experience in massage. She was not a "massage therapist" she said: They [management] makes us do the massage because so they don't have to pay a regular Lic massage therapist.. I know where I'm not going to spend my hard earned $$$$$. I will find another spa there are many in the Akron - Medina area. I will ask next time if they are an LMT before they even start.. Dana D. Dinner at the Cabin
By Diane, 1/28/08
I heard there was a new chef. Did you hire him because he is a relative of the "Iron Chef" Save your money. Lobster Bisque....ok Lamb Special....I enjoyed my 4 bites for $35.00. What was that "relish" on the side? Then I paid $10.00 for a side of mashed potatos and some spinich. I couldn't eat the bread, I didn't want to call my dentist the next day. I heard people "crunching there bread" at the next table. Creme Brule....best part of my dinner. After $140.00 for 2. Not happy and I will not recommend the Cabin. I was there 2 years ago with some friends. It was excellent. What happened?
