Fresh Bearnaise sauce...
Yes, we got fresh bearnaise sauce on a a savory pastry for breakfast. I know this because I heard the rattle of the whisk from the kitchen. Think about that. When was the last time you got fresh anything from a Marriott? The day before it was a delightful stuffed french toast and alligator sausage (+fruit plate, tea, dates). The superb food was just one of the many pleasant surprises from this gem of a B&B. The rooms are clean and the innkeepers are very friendly. With internet included and some of the best beef brisket, ribs and pulled pork a short walk away (at The Joint), what's not to like? Well, it is in the infamous Ninth Ward, though this area was not badly flooded. With a few exceptions, the neighborhood is not manicured. However, the area looks lived in which is saying a lot considering you are in New Orleans. For whatever it is worth, there is a police station about a block away. We took the bus from Canal Street (the city bus passes conveniently within a couple blocks of Maison de Macarty) our first evening there and walked back from the French Quarter the second evening. Meh, I don't know. It's safe enough during the day and probably less so at night. But again, it's New Orleans. Take it or leave it, I guess. As far as I am concerned, I would definitely take it again.
