I booked a fireplace king bed room. When we arrived the room had not been cleaned (it was 5pm) they accidently forgot. We went out for the night and returned late at 10pm. It was really cold so we decided to turn the fireplace and heat on. Guess what? They didnt work. DO NOT STAY. This is the only holiday inn that i've ever had problems with.

Travelers becareful

When I booked this reservation I was guaranteed & I paid for in advance for a King size bed for 3 nights. When I arrived, I was given a Queen size room. Another thing, once I called the management on this they were not apologetic for the error. They put me in a King size room but once I put all my belongings inside front desk called me to tell me I'd have to leave the room on my 2nd day because the bed matteresses for this size of beds were going to be changed (interestingly enough) Since the hotel was "sold out" I had to change rooms to a Queen size for my entire stay to avoid being moved in the middle of my stay. Finally, on Sunday morning I received my bill stating I was set to check out that day when I had another night to go. I pointed this out to the front desk. The clerk argued w/me a bit about me not having the full details of my reservation. Finally I decided, since I had been checked out by this hotel to go ahead and check out on my 2nd day and just avoid more confusion with this hotel. The names of the buildings of this hotel have are of wine varietals but if your trip is (like mine) to do wine tasting and you happen to buy a bottle and do not have an opener, don't expect for the front desk to help. They don't have any wine bottle openers. The breakfast is the only nice part of my experience. The rooms are OK. The remote control to the TV did not work well with the TV. HBO's volume was too low even at the highest setting with the remote control. I hope I helped someone make an informed decision when considering staying at the Holiday Inn Express, Grover Beach, CA.

Not Too Bad
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/04/05
Hotel is just off of 101, which is great when you are going back and forth to different coastal towns. Staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel and room clean and spacious. Lighting a little too dark. There is a restaurant next door (did'nt try it, but its there) Like all coastal properties, parking is small and hilly. The area is cool and I felt it would be nice to have an indoor pool instead of outside pool.

Noise and lights shining in room
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/06/04
We stayed at the Grover Beach Holiday Inn Express on 11-26-2004 and we were quite diappointed. The room was the highest price on our trip and the worst room. We were charged $143.10. The room was exceptionally noisy from outside noise and traffic and room 331 was a balcony room and the curtains couldn't be closed and the automatic lights shined in our room so that we couldn't sleep. It would have been cheaper for us to continue our trip without stopping.

Excellent value for the price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/31/04
I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Grover Beach twice. It is a pretty new hotel, and the accomodations are nice and well-kept. Staff is friendly, and they have a pool and jacuzzi for guest use. Best of all, it is right off of Hwy. 101 and you can't hear the freeway noise inside your room. This hotel is close to Pismo State Dunes--about a 10-minute drive. You get the fun without paying the higher prices you would if you stayed in Pismo.
