Super 8 Winterset Ia, Winterset

Likes: The location. Winterset is a small town and this way we didn't have to travel somewhere else. It was clean and didn't smell like smoke or anything else. It was quiet. It had continental breakfast. Dislikes: You have to check in by 11:00P.M. because that is when they close up and lock the door. I feel they should be open 24/7 because there is no where else to go. We got there about 10:45 so we just made it. This may sound petty, however they should have an iron and ironing board in the room. Most modern places do anymore. A lot even have mircowaves and little fridges. I feel for the price of the room, there should be more modern amenities. I would have been fine with things if the price were cheaper. To sum things up, I gave it an average rating.

This hotel was disgusting! I cannot believe that people actually think this hotel is clean?! We checked in on a friday because we had a family wedding to attend that night and ended up checking right back out after 2 hours because it was nasty. First off, we asked for a non smoking room(have children) and they put us in a smoking room. The room about made you gag walking in. The shower had mold around the top of it, shower made horrible ringing sound, everything was way worn, the hotel smelled dirty, beds looked like they were 20yrs old with the springs popping out and water was leaking from the hotel room above us. We went and stayed in West Des Moines at the Sheraton for only 10.00 more and WOW was that a change. The rest of the wedding party ended up staying at the Dirty 8 and had nothing good to say about the stay. The manager took the bride's dress and grooms tux, threw them in a plastic bag and tossed them in the Lost and found while they were being brought to the airport by the groom's father to leave on their honeymoon. This was at 4-5am. The grooms father was going to come back and grab their stuff and check them out at that time. Checkout isn't until 10 but for some reason this manager thought it was necessary to clean their room when they never turned in their keys or said they were checking out! There is more I could go on about that the guests experienced but I would be here all night. Just BEWARE! Drive the extra 20-30 miles and stay in a nice hotel in Des Moines. Will be worth the drive.

Bill and his staff very friendly and helpful. Great room at a great price. BTW, all one bed rooms have a king bed. Ask for "The Room" if you want a bit more space, with comfy sofa and chair. No hassle wireless internet was also nice. We will stay again.
