Buyer Beware!!!!
OK.. let me give you a quick run down of our NYC hotel search.
I try to get to the city a couple to a few times a year, down 7 hours from Maine.
This trip I came down with 4 other people and we all booked a large room at the Murray Hill East Hotel. We get there, and our room isn't ready.. (No problem, we were a little early.) They give us our key room 1107, and tell us it's being cleaned, we can get in in 10 minutes. We sit in the over crowded lobby with piles of other people and their luggage. After maybe 40 minutes, we hear another patron being brought up to his room, we hear them say, room 1107 please. (Wait, Don't we hold those keys?) We go back to the counter and ask about our room, they look it back up and they tell us they double booked that room, then they give us another key 1108, but that room isn't ready yet either, another 10 minutes, they tell us. We decide to check our bags and grab a bite to eat, to give them some time. We come back maybe 2 hours later, after some lunch and site seeing. The room still wasn't ready. With a little screaming from my friends and we get our room, once again room 1107. (Wait! Didn't someone else already have this room?) We get our bags and head up to the room, The maids catch us in the hall, and tell us the room isn't ready yet. OK now we are 3 hours past check in time and our room still isn't ready! We go back down and my friends get another key, this one upstairs a flight, it's a smoking room, not what we wanted, but we're told it is ready and we have an appointment to make in two hours, and we all have to shower and dress. We get to the floor, walk past a maid smoking in the hall, into a room where another maid is smoking in the room, and yup.. still not ready. We complain and get our money back.. Now in NYC with no room, no hotel, and two hours to get to our destination.
Our friends had stayed at the W in Times Square once before and loved it. There was one just down the street, so we walked in.. imediatly we are welcomed, into a warm clean hotel, They don't have anything, but call around to the other buildings in their chain. Then they find a suite that will be empty in about an hour.. Late departure. We hang out in the nicely decorated lobby. Drink some free juice and snack on some free snacks. About 30 minutes later, the manager comes over, sits with us and explains that the patrons in that room have decided to stay longer, but in a building they have two doors down they have a double room, with two queen sized beds, and it is ready and they gave us a deal on it. The manager himself walks us over and shows us to the room.
The room was great, clean and the service was great!
I know when I go back to NYC.. I will definetly look into staying at the W Tuscany again, and I will never stay at the Murray Hill East.
I feel the positive feedback for Murray Hill has to be people vested in the Hotel because it was the absolute worst experience I have ever had at any hotel.
Thank you W New York Tuscany for saving us from The Murray Hill East!
