peace and solitude
By frederick, 11/26/09
Enchanting time at the Garden Pavilion, exceptionally well appointed rooms, with attention to details. We loved the gas burning fireplace each evening and the nightly turndown. Also, the grounds are beautifully maintained. So sad to learn of the loss of the Richmond Hill Inn Historic Mansion to fire but to us who never visited before it didn't affect our stay. We hope to return again to Asheville and stay at the Inn. The breakfast, afternnon tea tray, and Wifi were appreciated. Signed: Pennsylvania Travelers.

The wish to enjoy this fine Inn's sweet embrace, shall go unmet, fire concluding her fate.

Been there befor, but this was our best experience yet!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/14/08
We have been to Richmond Hill for dinner several times (and once overnight), and our recent dinner was the best by far. While in the past the chef seemed to be trying to be ultra-creative, which led it to being over-the top and weird, everything this time was PERFECT - cooked as we requested, incredible pairings and blending of flavors, accompaniments that went perfectly with the main courses - and the prices were more than reasonable for the quality of food we received. Keep up the good work! Only recommendation, the servers can relax a little - good service does not have to be stiff and stuffy!!!

Beautiful, but infested with ants!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/18/07
The whole place is architecturally significant, wonderfully landscaped and picturesque, beautifully decorated and pricey, both the rooms and the two restaurants. We went for our anniversary and stayed in one of the cottages--charming, but on closer look, infested with ants--on the fireplace mantel, in the bathroom, on the counters, walls, floors and windowsills. Pretty creepy. The housekeeper sent to the room to have a look, implied that it was a recurring problem. We were promised half off one of our two nightly charges and after a couple hours (and missed dinner reservation)moved to another room. Experienced more ants the next morning on the white table cloth at breakfast. (Far away from our room) First we thought it was from the flowers in the room and at the restaurant, but they were crawling in from the windows, up the walls, etc. This place needs to deal with its pest problems--property wide. Wrote a personal letter to the general mananger to ask whether he was aware of the problem and had dealt with it. Never heard back.

A place to feel pampered
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/8/06
The room was gorgeous and well-appointed. My wife and I love those bathrobes! The grounds are magnificent, and we especially enjoyed the rocking chairs on the covered porch. We took a hike each morning on their walking trail and then went to a delicious buffet breakfast. And you have got to try Gabrielle's for dinner. Overall a very positive experience.

Best B&B in the Southeast
By John, 5/14/06
The Richmond Hill Inn is hands-down the best B&B in the Southeast. The quiet location is a plus, the service by the staff in the Inn and the restaurants is a big plus, the landscaping and garden are a plus, the hitoric mansion is a plus and the reasonable price for both room (Richmond Pearson room at $210 which includes an excellent breakfast buffet- we also got a $75 credit for staying two nights) is a plus. We ate two evening meals in their gourmet restaurant, Gabrielle's, overseen by top-notch Chef Michelle Kelley. The first night we opted for the basic fixed price menue ($60 per head) which was had numerous options and was delicious. The next night we choose the $90 per person menue which was truly outstanding. If you're looking for a gracious, exceptional B&B experience, my wife and I strongly recommend The Richmond Hill Inn.

What a great B & B!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/5/04
The Richmond Hill is by far the best hotel in Asheville! It's a small hotel with gorgeous rooms and a terrific five-star restaurant. It's the kind of place you want to stay in while you're in Asheville ... very quiet and romantic and elegant.
