Great hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/7/10
I booked the surprise getaway for my husband and I back in January. Then as it got closer to our visit I began reading some of the reviews and was rather leary about staying. Well I can say first hand our stay was the Gettysburg Hotel was a great experience! We got a room with a king size bed and found the room to be very spaceous and clean! The view was of the parking garage but not everyone can have a view of the circle! As for parking, yes we had to pay but we also recognize that we're in the city and that's part of city life. For those reviews who stated about walking down the "alley" to the parking garage - it's merely a few feet from the garage to the door and at no point did we feel unsafe. the staff was friendly and very helpful. In all, our stay was great! I certainly would recommend it to my family & friends

Its OK
By Omar, 8/7/10
My wife and I spent our honeymoon here and it left alittle to be desired, for the roughly $525 we spent to stay 3 nights I was expecting alittle more. The very first thing that bothered me was that we had to pay for parking though they do validate and I understand that because of the location free parking is impossiable. The second thing to bother me was that on the 1st night my wife droped her necklace on the floor by the bed, when I got down to get it I noticed several fake finger nails and asorted little trash under the side of the bed. The last thing I found lacking was the "fitness center" 6 or 7 pieces of equipment and it was a very small room, the treadmill belt needed tightened and kept boging down. The hotel is located in the center of Gettysburg and you can walk to alot of the places you want to go to ( shops, battlefield tours, galleries ect..) so if you have never been there like us it makes it easier to get about. The hotel tavern is a nice place to relax after a day of touring, it is quiet and peaceful, the wife and I spent an enjoyable hour or so there on evening. The next time we go to Gettysburg we will probably stay at a different hotel, our experiance was good but I just feel it could have been so much more. If you want a place that is centrally located than this is your place, but if you can handle a short (5/10 min) drive try another hotel and maybe save alittle bit of money

A Wonderful Experience!
By Mr. 377, 5/17/10
My family stayed here last year for bike weekend and we had an excellent time. The room was beautiful and we had a wonderful view of the square from our room. The location is excellent with most things we wanted to go to within walking distance. The pool was a nice touch. You must stay here!

Thank You for a Great Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/7/07
My wife and visit Gettysburg quite often and have stayed with the newest hotel in town and have also stayed at some of the Bed & Breakfast in town, but we are always drawn back to this beautiful hotel with history and charm. The service from the staff far exceeds the other hotels. The restaurant's food was out of this world, the Crab Cakes are the best. We will be back next year and look forward to another wonderful stay.

NOT WHAT IT USE TO BE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/18/07
MY WIFE AND I HAVE STAYED AT THIS HOTEL MANY TIMES. THE FIRST TIME WE STAYED WE THOUGHT WHAT A FINE PLACE. OVER THE YEARS THE PLACE IS GOING DOWN HILL. MY WIFE AND I ARE VERY SAD AS WE BOTH LOVE GETTYSBURG AND THE HOTEL IS IN THE BEST PLACE. IF YOU LOOK DOWN AT THE FLOORS YOU CAN SEE THE SAME TRASH ON THE FLOORS YOU WILL SEE THREE DAYS LATER. THE ROOMS ARE NOT "DIRTY" BUT ALL THE DRINKING GLASSES WERE SPOTTED, CARPET STARTING TO SHOW WEAR, HALLS AND ROOMS ARE IN NEED OF PAINTING. MAYBE YOU WILL THINK IT A NICE PLACE BUT WE REMEMBER WHAT IT USE TO BE. YEARS AGO THEY USE TO HAVE A FOUR CUP COFFEE MAKER IN EACH ROOM BUT THEY HAVE BEEN REPLACED BUY A ONE CUP MAKER, WHAT A JOKE.....MOST ROOMS HAVE NO FRIDGE OR MICRO. THE ROOM RATES ARE BASED ON WHAT IS GOING ON IN TOWN...... CHECK THE RATES FOR MID MAY.... MORE THAN DOUBLE. THE KIDS THAT RUN THE PLACE DON'T HAVE A CLUE......WE WOUNDER HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE BEST WESTERN TO DROP THEM.

Its haunted!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/10/07
The water kept running all night. When I would get up to shut it off, no water was on, the sink was even dry. I went to get ice from the ice machine and I ended up running down the hall, I could literally feel someone following me. A good place for the ghost hunters out there. I woulnt be back.

Old town, homey feeling!
This hotel is the perfect place to stay in Gettysburg. Walking distance to all the shops. The hotel gives you that comfortable homey feeling when you are there and their dining room is excellent! We also took a buggy ride from just out the front door to around town. Very romantic place too. Will be back!
