Lighthouse Lodge and Cottages, Pacific Grove

my husband and i have gone to this property for a week in may and 2 weeks in september for many years, we have had the best of service they are very kind and attentive.The suites we have stay in are wonderful,the food is great and the area is one of the most beautiful places in the U.S. we plan on going there for many more years

Service is excellent, and always clean. Close to the wharf and downtown for shopping and dining. Close to ocean and beaches. Just driving around to see sights is fun.

We were booked at the Lodge and it overlooked a graveyard! Some people might find this "peaceful" I found it disquieting. So we asked to move to the Suites across the street. No problem! The staff was very nice and gave me keys to go check out the available suites. The suites are more expensive but so worth it! We had a clean room with a jacuzzi and honor bar and a very comfortable bed. Again, the staff was wonderful, the breakfast outstanding and the happy hour has alot of different things to enjoy. All in all I definately would stay again at the Lighthouse Suites, but would never stay at the Lodge.

I'm a little sad to write this but this place was awful. The room smelled like a wet dog when we got there. The room was shabby and I don't mean shabby chic. The color of the room and the decor was nice but the bed hurt my back. We had to fight the screen door when we want to sit on the small balcony out side our room. The chairs and tables were to dirty to sit on. We got locked out of our room for a while. The poor guy that could get us back in just left for the night and had to come back. The bbq was OK but not a real bbq. It was like Costco food. Very blaaa. We had a room in the back which was very depressing. Alot of dirt and an over flowing trash can that was not emptyed the three days we stayed. This place could be a real joy to stay at. Its in a good location. The hot tub and the pool were great. If they would just plant some flowers and clean it up and get some new beds and just fix the broken stuff. Then it might be worth the money. But as they are now I would not pay the 180 a night.

The suites were excellent. It is in a romantic setting along with a fireplace and a spa tub and a patio among giant trees. We received a sitdown breakfast, along with an wonderful snack later in the day. There are deer in the area that roam around freely and the coastly breeze is just wonderful. We have stayed several times and will go back again

Stay in Junior Suites since it includes a full course breakfast...that saves our family of four at least 40.00 daily! Walk to the Lighthouse and the beach...I will be back. The bed was excellent and the rooms were not stuffy. You can open the windows!!

I loved this hotel. I thought that the atmosphere of the lodge was so cute and comfortable. For what you pay you get a whole lot, dinner (bbq burgers and hot dogs and salads), breakfast (eggs and potatoes, standard fair), and a nice room to stay in. For $360, my boyfriend and I stayed for three nights plus tickets to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It is so relaxing, the beds are super comfortable, and the linens are really nice. Location of this hotel is right between Monterey and Carmel, short drive to each, as in less that 10 minutes. It is super safe and the locals are great. Check out the ladies at the Pacific Grove Visitors Center, their are a hoot and a half and they will give you some really great ideas for dining. Go here if you are looking for a very relaxing trip and not wanting to spend a fortune.

Ok, I did major research trying to find a nice place down in the Monterey area to take my wife for Valentine's weekend. After searching for a few weeks, I found the Lighthouse Lodge & Suites. I booked a studio suite (due to the large amount of negative reviews about the standard rooms and cemetary views). Turns out there weren't any studio suites left. I called and spoke with a very nice gentleman who kindly upgraded to the Junior Suite for the same price. We showed up and checked in, and the room was pretty nice. A bit smaller than I imagined, and a lot of wood highlights throughout (smelled like they used a bit too much wood polish though). Five minutes after checking in and prior to unpacking our suitcase, we received a call from the front desk. It turned out that a guest was extending their stay and they had a large group that was already staying in the suites. One last member of that group was due to check in and we happened to beat them there. So, they offered to upgrade us to the Lodge at Pebble Beach (yes, that's right, the Lodge at PB!) in order to keep the group together. Now, knowing that the room rate at the Lodge was about four times what we were paying at the Lighthouse, I jumped on it immediately. So, we left and went on our merry way down to the Lodge (we had a room overlooking the #1 tee box!). I can't say how much fun it would have been at the Lighthouse, but we had a blast at the Lodge! We came back to the Pacific Grove area the next day, and actually went to a bunch of places that surrounded the Lighthouse (stuck with original plans) so it is very centrally located to a lot of fun things to do (the Monarch butterflies in George Washington park was amazing!). For the money that we would have paid at the Lighthouse, the room was definitely worth it because there was not another Inn or Hotel in that price range that was that nice and had the ammenities (free breakfast and afternoon bbq, jacuzzi tub, two tvs, etc.). All-in-all, a great experience but my review is obviously a bit jaded as we actually stayed at one of the most desireable lodges in the nation, all thanks to the Lighthouse tha picked up the $1600 tab! Oh yeah, the cemetary actually wasn't that bad, there were deer everywhere (even though I never saw the actual view from a room).

this inn is perfect! the views are awsome!at night you can hear the surf! just a short walk to the beach lighthouse and golf! the local wildlife comes right to your door! the rooms are always neat clean and very comfortable.they always accomodate all our requests. they serve a great breakfast&dinner included in the price of your room.for families on a budget this can really make vacationing much more affordable.you can also purchase aquarium tickets at the inn and they will provide with an awsome sack lunch for each ticket purchased.aquqrium is only a short 5 minute drive along the beautiful caost line.

There was absolutely NOTHING to like about this dreadful place! When we arrived a bird pooped on my head and things went downhill from there!! A dungeon-like room awaited us, which was practically underground, decorated like a mortuary, which was fitting, since it sat on a cemetary. It was DARK and DREARY, looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a century, and was so small you couldn't turn around without opening the door! So miserable! We immediately went back to the front office and cancelled our reservation and headed down the road for decent accommodations elsewhere. Monterey and surrounding areas have too much to offer to settle for the Lighthouse Lodge!
