Slovenly Staff; tawdry lobby
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/29/09
I do not recommend this hotel. The lobby is dreary and feels like a third class hotel. The first and almost the last word from the desk staff, to any request, is 'no, not possible' - accept for loan of a bike. I left a small pillow in the room and before I had even hung up the telephone asking if they had found it, an email arrived saying no, not found. Two requests later and a letter to the home office and suddenly it was found. It seems as if they rolled it in dirt and then charged us to put it in a box and mail it to me.
The rooms are fatiguee and I cannot help wondering if they pay the housekeeping staff adequately. And - what idiot decided to plant grape vines on a roof terrace? In Bordeaux, at least, most people know that grapes have deep roots and will not survive happily on a roof deck. So as you look down from the corridor, you see dead-ish vines on what looks like astroturf.
