Quiet and Quaint
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/11/09
I stayed at The Inn at Canal Square for a few days with my family this summer in the Admiral's Quarters. It was a lovely suite with 2 bedrooms and a deck right on the water. There was a living room area for my son to watch television in without disturbing my husband and me. The staff was incredibly accommodating and extremely friendly. I was hesitant at first to rent the suite after reading a previous comment about the service and the amount of money that we were about to spend. However, when we arrived all my worries were tossed out the window. The view was great, the young lady at the front desk was charming, the gentleman that helped us with our luggage was extremely friendly and even stopped by our table at breakfast the next morning to ask how we were enjoying our stay. The young lady that worked the breakfast room was extremely attentive to the fact that we were in need of a high chair for my daughter without us even having to ask for one. The price was a bit high but overall our stay was thoroughly enjoyable and my son is already asking when we are going back. I think we have found our new summer destination.

Beautiful Cape Cod style inn. Large room was very clean and had a lovely view of the canal from the balcony. Staff was very helpful. Lovely breakfast buffet. Within 2 blocks of downtown Lewes charming shops and restarants. Can't wait to go back and experience one of the inn's spa packages.

Charming Quiet Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/29/07
The Inn at Canal Square had the simplicity of a small, informal Bed & Breakfast like place and the accommodations of a large chain. The staff was helpful explaining what one may think is a dumb question and was generally hospitable. The staff seemed to blend in somewhat with the quests but was there on call. The room I was in had a nice Jacuzzi and was both practical and had character -- it was not ultra modern. Downtown Lewes this time of year, off season, was not crowded, at least in the early morning. I walked the whole "downtown" area in about 15 minutes. With boats and ships just outside the Inn, there was a seafaring atmosphere, but not too conspicuously so. The place was quiet and other quests were polite, friendly and civil. The continental breakfast was very good, with a relaxing atmosphere.

Price does not equal service!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/11/07
My boyfriend surprised me with a weekend at the Inn at Canal Square. We stayed in one of the two Suites. I thought that maybe the lack of service was due to it being off season. At a rate of $600 per night (yes $600 per night in the off season), we did not have anyone assist with our luggage, we did not have a parking spot near the suite, we did not have any extra ammenities that are normal in suite. The maid service didn't even replinish all the soaps etc. in all the bathrooms on the 2nd night. I am a professional meeting planner, and I know what guests should expect when they stay in a suite in any property, be it a MircoHotel or Hilton. At a rate of $600 per night, I would have expected at least complimentary bottled water! I would not recommend this property to anyone at any price - it is first class RIP OFF!

Never again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/18/06
I was so excitied to go to this place I couldn't wait got there then "BAM" it hit me we spent $800 to stay four days in a cheap motel. Everything they told us on the phone was untrue. The room had none of the amenities we were told about. I will never again go to Lewes because of this awful experience. Management was no where to be found and service was slow because of power problems. We were given flash lights just in case the lights went out. I tried to get some of my money back and couldn't find a manager anywhere and the staff had no clue how to find them.
