Velas Vallarta Suite Resort, Puerto Vallarta

This place was absolutly amazing. The scene and activities were a lot of fun. It is a great place to go with your family, free drinks, room servie anytime, and the rooms were georgious. I just got back and it was the third time I was in a resort in Mexico and it was the best resort I have ever been too. I would definitly recommend it to anyone to go to Velas Vallarta.

I strongly suggest that you use the safe deposit boxes in the lobby. Also, learn to use the bus to go downtown. It is cheap and leaves from the front of the hotel.

We just got back from the Velas Vallarta and had an overall good experience. We had a 2 bedroom suite overlooking the pools with a view of the ocean. Beds were incredibly comfortable, pillows were some of the best I've ever slept on, which I really appreciate! Linens were top of line and pristine. Overall cleanliness was excellent. Loved the balcony. We spent most of our time out there if we weren't sleeping. The kitchen was OK, bathroom and fixtures outdated. The furniture in the room was spotted and stained; no way would I have slept (or sat) on the couch, which looked like it was straight out of the 70's! Our room wasn't nearly as nice as those you see in the pictures on the web site. No robes, and be sure to bring your own shampoo/conditioner, they don't supply any conditioner for hair, only shampoo. Beach was great - our two teenagers spent most of their time in the ocean. We had no trouble getting chairs or a cabana, and we were there at the busiest time of the year. Pools were fun, very warm, service at the swim up bar was good, and the waiters were attentive and appreciative of any tip you gave them, but we never felt like we had to tip. Drinks were well made, everything and anything you could want was available! Also no trouble getting reservations at Andrea. We thought the food in both restaurants was good. Lots of variety. Not excellent, but certainly very good. We tried the restaurant at the other property, but didn't find it to be any different. We appreciated the quiet, more elegant atmosphere more than the food, and the shuttle was very easy to take back and forth. My husband REALLY liked the health club at the other property. Only big complaint: my husband's very expensive prescription sunglasses and a pair of nonsubcription sunglasses were stolen right out of his suitcase, which really put a damper on the trip. We reported the theft, security took a report and searched the room, but nothing ever came of it. I wouldn't suggest bringing ANYTHING of value to this hotel, including jewlery. We used the in room safe, but never really felt our belongings were secure after the theft.

This resort is outstanding - from the first step onto the property to the last step off the property - it couldn't be better! The rooms are beautiful, the grounds are very tropical, the pools are huge and inviting. The food is great and the drinks are awesome. The beds are so comfortable, its hard to get yourself out of them in the morning! The resort is locating in the Marina area, which is a very nice location and a very easy bus ride or taxi ride to downtown or oldtown. I can't wait to return.

The grounds are beautiful. The pools are great. Good food and drinks! Drinks are a heavy pour. The staff are wonderful. We were given the wrong room and they "bent over backwards" to accomodate our request. We were moved the very next morning to a room with a great view. Try to get a room in Bldg 3 (South side of complex) on an upper floor. In the Jan / Feb visits, the sun won't shine directly into your room and you'll love the sunsets.

Sevice terrible, food yuck, pool side service wonderful. Nightlife none, switched room 3 times. Brekfast was the best meal of the day. Do not do the all inclusive.

I did like the fact that the staff are friendly and very accomodating. Food was so so. The ambiance of the place was the best. What I hated most was the fact that they have to push you to attend this timeshare sales pitch.

This resort is fantastic! They have a very clean and well kept resort and are very helpful. The beds are comfortable and the food is the best quality. The resort itself seems to be favored slighty more by those over 50, which worked great for me as it meant it wasn't a noise experience getting a suntan.

Velas Vallarta is by far one of the best resorts I have ever styed at. The staff were extremely friendly and polite. I spent hours at the pool and never got bored...the Activities Directors rock! Both restaurants had great food (try the Nachoes at the pool side bar, and the breakfast in the morning is delicious), and the daily drink specials were fab! If you're looking for an aamzing resort for your vacation, I reccommend Velas. You won't be disappointed!

My father has a condo at Vela Vallarta and so I get the chance to visit often. The experience is just wonderful... I have met some wonderful people and experienced a piece of paradise. If you get the chance, make sure you get a back massage on the beach. It was out of this world. -Ashley
