DONT GO HERE.
By ,
Beautiful resort. Actually I'm here right now, the problem was that our room was broken into last night. They cut the window screens to an unlocked window in the hallway while we went out to eat. A total of two phones, one laptop, and $500 were all missing. Security did absolutely nothing and police can't come into the hotel grounds. Their attitude was VERY shewd and snotty to us. They basically laughed at us. Then they said to go to the police station and write a report, but they were all closed. They left us feeling violated for the rest of the trip and didn't compensate ANYTHING. We will never be going there again. Unbelievable. People that have been going there for years haven't heard anything like that ever happening. But! After talking to numerous staff members, they said it happens quite a bit. This whole situation has made this trip horrible. PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY!! DON'T GO HERE!!

We keep going back
By ,
We don't like the barn yard type atmosphere you have to endure at the airport. We don't like the high pressure from the sales people. We don't like the 5% increase each year in the maintenance fee's. We love everything else about the resort. Its getting to the point where we will not be able to afford Velas Vallarta anymore because of the ever increasing fee's and just walk.

Longtime owner
By ,
I have been a timeshare owner since 1995...longtime, we go back every year I feel my children are in a very safe enviroment. We know alot of the staff!!! My only suggestion is more activities for teenagers in the evening at the resort, and the all enclusive wristbands are priced too high.

Never Again
By ,
While we liked the rooms and grounds,we were pressured each trip to go to the presentation which is no more than a ploy to get more money from the time share owners. Because we did not always upgrade we were pretty much avoided when it came to any discounts or friendly treatment. At the last visit we went to the presentation and agreed to purchase an upgrade. When the contract papers were presented for signing, the wording was not what we were promised by the sales rep and they were unwilling to change them. We tore up the contract and the management was very anxious to have us leave the sales office. We went down the street a couple blocks and purchased a time share at the Mayan Palace and have been very pleased with the change from Vellas to the Mayan group

Perfection in Mexico
By ,
We went to Puerto Vallarta on spring break. When we arrived, we were flustered and having a rather bad time trying to call home. We were also placed into the wrong room. We were really upset, but they quickly got us placed into the right room, and one of the activities directors greeted us in the lobby that evening. His name was Carlos, and he was amazing. He turned our spirits right around and treated us like royality for our entire stay. Beautiful views, peaceful nights, great food at both of the resturants on location. Room service was splendid, as well as maid service. Too many great things to mention. Would definatly reccomend and will be going back first chance I get. Enjoyed myself so much, I was even disappointed to have to leave.

Loved it!
By ,
First off let me say that the pics for this resort are wrong. They've got the Velas Vallarta pics instead of the Velas Grand. And let me tell you there is a BIG difference between the two! Velas Grand is more upscale than Velas Vallarta. I stayed at Velas Vallarta Grand first couple of days of my trip and then went to Velas Vallarta. I felt like I down graded resorts. The beds were big and comfortable. The bathroom had a tub with whirlpool jets and a separate shower. And the view of the ocean from my room was breath taking. The food was great and the icing on the cake was servers came to me and if I want a drink. They have 4 restaurants to choose from, but you have to make a reservation early or take a late dinner because 3 out of the 4 fill up quick. The beach was goregous and vendors didn't come up and bother me. All in all I would go back to Velas Vallarta Grand in a heart beat. My computer is acting crazy so I'll my ratings. On a 5 star scale(5 being excellent & 1 being poor): Overall Experience: 5 out of 5 Service: 4.5 out of 5 Cleanliness: 5 out of 5 Location: 4 out of 5 Value: 5 out of 5

from time share owners

What we liked the large lobby, the lush beautiful grounds first thing you see when you arrive, the service, the food, but you must like mexican, otherwisw there hamburgers are as good as any, the hosteses are polite and beautiful, the waiters always there to please you, especially the ones that wait on you poolside, the music especialy in the Andreas Restaurant, the large balconies with their view, this is good for people without kids. The honest bell men in delivering you bags and their help in getting a taxi. The very inexpensive laundry service. What we didn't like the hounding of the guests in the lobby. These people (employees of Velas ???) trying to sell, sell, sell, just like used car sales people. This makes a very bad impression on a class organization. You need marketing people who know how to sell without pressure. If you have a good product it will sell. Unfortunately will no longer be able to go to Velas after goin every year for 5 years, due to health, We are prepared to sell our 4 weeks Gold. Theresa Erwin Anthony Moreno

I won't be going back!
By ,
I was really excited to go to Mexico for the first time! It started out great until we landed in Puerto Vallarta. We were hounded by the hotel staff claiming he would be "our knight in shining armour" because we were four women traveling alone. He told us he would meet us for breakfast the next morning and give us a tour of the grounds and 50% off and excursions we wanted. When we arrived for breakfast, it was all a scam to get us to sit through a long sales pitch. We sat for 3 1/2 hours and they just wouldn't take "no" for an answer. When they finally caught on that we weren't interested, we were treated much differently. No one was available to assist us, we didn't know about the sister resort until our last day there so we ate at the only two restaurants we knew about and the food---ugh! The outdoor restaurant had bugs and birds everywhere! And where was the Mexican food??? It was very noisy at night and the front desk didn't seem to think it was a problem. I went to an all-inclusive to relax, not be kept up all night! This resort ruined my vacation!

Nice resort
By ,
Older teens/young adults are loking for things to do after 9-10:00 pm...The resort needs to look to improve the activities for younger adults...maybe mid-night volley-ball, BBQ in the beach at night, disco/club atmosphere. The resort needs to let folks know about the VIP from the Airport and what to do before your get to Mexico. The resort needs to inform the quest about Tipping as it is all inclusive. Is it proper, where and when...

Beautiful grounds - boring food
By ,
Just stayed here at the end of July. The resort grounds are beautiful. The unit itself is a good size and clean as expected for Mexico. The all inclusive food gets really old by the end of the week. There are only 2 restaurants on the property. The front restaurant is open air and by the beach but with that comes heat (dairy products are out) and bugs. You can eat at the sister resort Casa Velas with your all inclusive bracelet - we learned that by chance. The resort is almost next door to the airport which makes it really loud when planes take off. Although walking distance to the marina, there isn't much to do at the marina. You probably wouldn't walk to the boardwalk from this resort, it's too far. As is typical, the timeshare attacks begin at the airport and continue once you're there. We pre-arranged transportation prior to leaving and expected we wouldn't have to suffer through timeshare speeches. We still had to go through it at the airport. Just go way out front and get yourself a taxi. Costs only about 40 pesos or 4 dollars. The power went out two different days we were there which impacts water.
