Fairfield Inn East Rutherford Meadowlands, East Rutherford

My girlfriend and I stayed here on a recent trip to Manhattan. The hotel is located about 20 minutes away from Manhattan by public transit. The NJ transit bus stops right outside the hotel and brings you to Port Authority for $4.25. The rooms were very clean (no bed bugs), staff was fantastic and the price was unbeatable. Considering the stay includes free parking, free breakfast buffet and free wireless internet, the price is a steal! The make-your-own-waffle station was also great. Just a tip for those travelling on a Sunday. Check to see if there is a Jets or Giants game in town. Since the stadium is nearby, this is a popular place to stay for out-of-town fans. The breakfast buffet was very busy on Sunday morning though they did leave it open later than usual. Traffic in the area after the game was a nightmare; the bus going back to the hotel from NYC was nearly 30 mins late and took nearly twice as long to get back to the hotel. Overall, this was an excellent hotel and well worth the price. We'll definitely stay again.

my daughter and i stayed there a little over a year ago. the place was ok!! no frills, but easy to get to nyc from the bus line. when we returned home i noticed over two hundred dollars taken from my checking account. the manager said it was a fine for smoking in room. we don't smoke,my daughter has asthma, she tried to pull a fast one on us!! i called the corporate headquarters and complained. they apologized and returned the money. i forget the managers name,but she was dark and over weight. she should have been fired for stealing!!! never again!!!

Hotel is conveniently located in Meadowsland of NJ, very close to New York. Very quite, clean hotel with smoke free policy. Free parking and Free internet!!! Free Breakfast too!! NO kidding. Friendly staff (Thank you Kristina at Front desk). The little booklet in our room talked about how the management values the customer... I congratulate them for standing by their word. Loved this place, especially after a terrible experience at a 3.5 star hotel in EWR airport at a similar Marriot hotel.

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn in Dec 08. The hotel is decent and fairly priced. The bus stop out front was great to get into Manhattan to Port Authority, we would do that again. But, the bus stop was backed up and the buses seemed limited on Sundays, people were waiting for hours. We were told there would be transportation to the Meadowlands for a football game but there was no transportation available. We took a car service and it cost close to $50 for a round trip. The desk people were nice and helpful. The guy on Sunday (the game day) wasn't too helpful though. The only restaurant nearby was good and you could walk to it. Beware, on Sundays Bergen County (where the hotel is located) does not sell clothing and various other items, it's a law. Most of the local clothing stores and some others are closed on Sunday and the shopping is very very limited. All in all we would stay there again, the room was big. The desk people were helpful. There is breakfast but it was so packed everyday I didn't bother to eat. It is a little hard to find as the Meadowlands is under construction and a few exit ramps have been closed and there are a few Paterson Plank Roads. Make sure you have good directions and don't rely on a GPS as it probably won't be current.

This hotel has bed bugs, so move on past it. It gives the Marriots a bad name. The Manager, Tracy, is the worst and will not even speak with you. The rooms are old and in need of repair. The showers and irons do not work. Service and cleanliness are terrible, but the location is good. Go across the street to the Hampton Inn. Its clean and the management is head and shoulders above Tracy, who seems to think she owns the Marriott. Eventually, there will be no guests at this hotel as she will chase them all out.
