Won't go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/23/08
We stayed in room 239. If you get motion sick...don't get a shower. The new tub suround is too small for the tub, and floats...so you basically have to balance yourself and hang on tight to the handrail. There was no plug in the sink. We arrived at 5:30 pm and still no towels in the room, so went down to get some...and found them being folded in the breakfast room. Still didn't get any face cloths. There was only 1 very small garbage can in the bathroom, the TV was very small. People we went with could not control the volume on their TV and were told that it was programed that way. It was so loud the people in the next room pounded on the wall to turn it down. The entire hotel stunk of stale smoke, and our room was non smoking. I will never stay there again...although...I guess you get what you pay for.

front desk service was friendly and helpful. halls and the room were clean. very large room. bed was big but the jacuzzi was a little small. would stay again on a regular weekend but the price was inflated somewhat for new yrs. not sure it was worth the extra.

Good for the one night
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/16/07
Very convienient location and priced right...it's just too bad the room was really stale...I mean "really stale old smoke" smell was awful wanted to burn a candle but didn't think to bring one for a non-smoking room, hopefully next time and a diferent room will be better.

Lovely little place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/23/07
I am writing this to let everyone know that I was at this hotel when that hockey tourny was there and all I can say is that those people are very lucky that they did not get thrown out...The kids were completly awful to everyone...and when I say everyone I mean everyone in Orillia. I went over to the store that is very close to the hotel and the kids from the team where in there giving the lady a very hard time. We went out to diner and all the wait staff were talking about the hockey teams. I guess that they had been there just before us and they were giving everyone a hard time. I KNOW that this hotel did what they had to do for the comfort of everyone that was staying there. Over all I would like everyone to read between the lines here and give this hotel a chance. The staff is wonderful, the hotel is a great deal!!!In an over priced town ( because of the casino) I have stayed at this hotel many many times and I have always had a great stay...even with other hockey teams...This group overall was not one that would book back into any hotel. Great job in a diffcult spot staff.

Bad

Stayed here last week, and all I can say is sleeping my car would have been better. The rooms stunk with stale smoke and the hotel was in ill repair. The price is cheap here for a reason.

A Dump!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/9/07
We stayed at this hotel for a hockey tournament. There were 2 teams booked at this hotel. Upon check in the rates had increased from the negotiated rate. Hallways and stairwells (no elevator) were filthy and had a pungent smoke odor. Smoking and Non smoking rooms were on the same floor and the smell horrific. The hotel is in major need of renovating and updating. The TV's look like there were picked up in a garage sale along with the mattresses! The bathrooms were tiny and the tubs were actually rusted and mouldy ceilings. A/C was not working... they sent up a maintainence person who showed up in a cut off t-shirt with tattoos... no professionalism here! The front desk people were outside smoking and not attending to the guests. The icing on the cake the hotel staff called the police on the kids as they were making too much noise! What were you thinking when you take a booking for 30+ kids for a hockey tournament! By far the worst hotel, service and accomodations I have ever seen! Beware!

What a great surprize!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/11/06
We kinda lucked out with this one. We went to Orillia thinking that we would get a room very easy... NOT it was a Saturday night in July. Just by chance we stopped in (after trying 3 or 4 different hotels to find out they were all full). They had just had a cancellation so we grabed it up and it was a wonderful night at a great price. The staff is so nice and the room was fab. Next time we go to Orillia I will call ahaed and book a room at the Econo Lodge!!!!!

What a Great Stay!!!!
By TIM WINDSOR, 5/29/06
I have stayed at this hotel now a number of times and I have been impressed with the service, the rooms, everything. This last time I stayed at the Econo Lodge I was surprized that they have new carpets, new wallpaper & fridges and microwaves in all the rooms!!! I can not recommend this hotel enough. The staff are wonderful, friendly and very happy. If I could not get a room at Econo Lodge I would not stay in Orillia.
