Kata Thani Hotel & Beach Resort, Phuket

This is an ideal location to disconnect. We had a wedding to attend in Singapore and wanted to get a couple of days diving in before. The hotel is really clean, spacious rooms with nice shower and A/C. We had a small pool in front of our room to relax in or could walk the hundred metres to the shore. Downside is that the hotel is on one side of the street and not "right on" the beach. More luxurious than our normal bungalow experiences in Thailand. Very nice. Hotel food for breakfast was great. We chose to eat outside the hotel in one of the two restaurants just outside the entrance. Excellent food and of course, inexpensive. The Sea Fun Divers dive shop was great! Great staff, patient, understanding, new equipment and a nice dive boat with plenty of hot fresh water. Diving was fantastic in the two days around the beginning of November. A must visit spot! A must dive spot!

My husband and I went on a budget trip to thailand for our 2 year anniversary and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the rooms, the beach, and the feeling of privacy we had at kata thani. It is nice enough for a honeymoon, and family friendly at the same time. We definitely recommend this place.

It is a nice, large and upscale resort directly on the beach. The location is very attractive, the rooms are nice, breakfast very good, the restaurants very good also. There is nothing to complain about, except maybe a slight feeling of being in a "tourist mill". The only surprise was that "deluxe" rooms seem to be not as attractive as "standard" rooms. They are slightly larger, but they have an odd L-shape that makes them dark, and the sea view from them is limited. On the other hand, standard rooms are bright and have a good sea view. We moved from a deluxe room to a standard one and considered it an improvement. But I may be wrong, maybe not all rooms are like this.

We loved the views, the pools, the sunsets, the snorkeling (including the "happy blue fish")and the wonderfully friendly staff. While there must do sea kayak tour of Phang Nga area. Only downside is that it took more than 24 hours of travel time to get there from DC.

I think it was a great location for our honeymoon..it was a fab hotel, with a lot of privacy, bang on the beach..rather a private beach, great swimming pools..good food.. they made it very special for us. The suites are just brilliant, with a fab sea view and amazing bathrooms. The spa was very good as well and the location of the jacuzzi was just mind blowing.
