We would never go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/14/09
The service at the pool was so bad, the rooms were not clean, they just do your bed everyday and....that's it ! We went on Eastern weekend and all the kids there were very dissapointed with the eastern hunt, they should hire people that likes kids and smile !!!!!

Never buy their timeshare
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/14/08
We bought our timeshare during the first building phase and we were told at any time that we could trade it in if we were not happy. We used it once, the reception desk was rude and unprofessional, the pools (2) had to be closed due to fecal matter, and the rooms were unkept, dirty, beyond belief! I would never recommend investing in one and beware of their promises as they are not fullfilled. The room maids do not speak any English and barely take the trash away, they cannot be bothered with anything else. I have written to management on several occasions but nothing is ever done and it remains the worst investment ever made, we cannot even sell it as there are so many for sale.

Amazing for the price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/09/07
I loved the pool area. You could bring your own food and drinks. You could buy food at the pool. They allowed rafts etc. They offer a quiet pool for those who don't like chaos. They provide towels etc. The room was amazing. They provide all the items you need to somewhat cook. They were very clean. The tennis courts were clean and new.

Great non smoking property
By The Blairs, 05/12/07
We only stayed three nights, and when it was time to go I had a lump in my throat and was fighting back the tears.I love the desert in springtime as my grandparents had a lovely home on a lake and took me there every weekend growing up. If you want a glitzy, showy place, this is not it.Everything is quiet, friendly, VERY non smoking (you may not smoke anywhere on the 350 acre plus and sign a contract with a fine). The Westin Mission Hills is better for those seeking prestige and big water slides and permitted smoking. The families were all so nice with preschool aged children like ours and everyone was so polite. The villa was spacious, nicely appointed, very comfortable bed, and had beautiful lake and golf course views. Our favorite part was the ducks and bunnies and one coot that came to our patio every day to be fed.My husband and I wanted to buy our unit so we could come here once a month.

Don't Book with Marriott vacation Club International
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/26/07
***Buyer beware of Marriott Vacation Club Internationl invitations that you get in the mail or if you get a call from a representative from them. They offer a $298 package price for 4 nights/5 days for a regular room. You can book a package on the Marriott Shadow ridge website for the same price, but also includes golf/and or a spa experience..Booking through the Marriott Shadow Ridge online packages link will give you a better package..I learned the hard way..Marriott Vacation Club INternational would not let me change the reservation I already had to the package online..so don't book through MARRIOTT VACATION CLUB INTERNATIONAL....

Good experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/19/06
My boyfriend and I had such a nice experience here. We like the Palm Desert area, so we come here a lot and usually stay in hotels. This was much better because the room we had was more like a condo. We had a full kitchen with a washer/dryer and living room with a large balcony....and there was a seperate tub and shower, which is always good. The pools were large and sparkling. There was a pool with a play area for kids, and a seperate one (where we hung out at) with mainly young adults drinking and socializing. There were lots of lounge chairs with enough shade and sun to cater everyone's needs. The best time for couples is at night, right at sunset. It's romantic, and we noticed it was a time when there were the least people at the pool. We didn't want to cook, so we ate out everyday. Most of the restaurants are on Hwy 111 and there are other Marriott hotels in the area with nice restaurants as well. This hotel offers a snack bar (near the pools) and golf club restaurant....if you're looking exquisite dining, it wouldn't be at this hotel. I agree with others that a 10:00 am check out time is a little early. We felt rushed to leave....but we still had a good time.
