The best hotel in Phuket!
By Brobs, 1/18/10
The service was wonderful, the room was beautiful and there was so much to do! There were several pools to choose from (I liked the blue pool the best) and the food was outstanding (loved the tradtional thai restaurant...try the green mando salad). The first night you arrive stay and watch the sunset ritual at the reflection pool. You will be in awe! I would go back in a heartbeat if I could! This vacation will change your life!

One of Phukets best kept secrets.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/3/10
Absolutley enjoyable from the swim up bar to the great friendly service provided in every restaurant. Try the Siam Deli for some of the best fish available or the Andaman Seafood Restaurant. Best seafood I have ever tasted. Rating: 9/10. The pools are excellent and the butler service great. We kept going back to the Pool Side bar each afternoon with the happy hour, which lasts for 11/2 to 2 hours. Great service with a smile. Excellent value for the money.

Major dissapointment at JW Marriot Phuket
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/2/09
Can't believe what had happen! Me & my wife booked our reservation few weeks in advance but to our vain we need to wait for more than 40 minutes without a room. The front desk offer us a twin bed after that but we were furious as this is our vacation & the hotel expect me to sleep seperately with my wife?!! We complained & they the front desk just smiled at without any further action. I was furious at that time, called up Sheraton for a last minute booking and they managed to get me a room that meet my needs with an upgrade at an equal price. We went back to cancel our room and the duty manager and front desk of JW Marriot didnt even bother to ask why. Blessing in disguise, we were glad that the incident had happen as Sheraton has fully treated us well. Besides that, the location is much better as its nearer to other tourist spots and the beach behind the hotel is much better than Patong beach as it is not jammed pack with people. Thank you JW Marriot for not making our day....

Nice enough city with historical and cultural sights but the political situation is just too chaotic. I would give this country a miss for a couple of years.

Marriott in Phuket
By Don from NJ, 7/29/08
The JW Marriott in Phuket was indescribable location for a romantic get-away. My finance and I visited in May for 10 days. There are lots to do but it is not near anyone else. Did not seem like there was a lot there for kids, other than the pools. For us it was idyllic. We consider ourselves sophisticated travelers and this was very different from any place else we had been. Took a cooking class and they took us into a local market to pick out ingredients for our class. It was incredible to see how people buy their food everyday. How fresh they eat everyday. The locals are very friendly and they are beautiful people. Everyone we met was very friendly and wanted to have us think well of their country. Very proud people. We paid much more than the rates listed on this site today and thought it was worth every bit of it. Only drawback was it is a long way to travel from the US. Our entire trip, including time in airports was 31 hours. That was grueling. But it was well worth it when we played with elephants on the beach. They were owned by locals and were like large family dogs. It was incredible. Another thing to be aware of here, is it is very traditional (but high end food). Don't come here if you are looking to eat typical US food. There is a high emphasis on traditional food and tradition in general. I would definitely go back.

New Owner in Phuket
By AaronG, 7/10/08
How do you know if you like a place? Well, after being there for 4 days we bought a 2 bedroom timeshare (HUGE), 2 weeks per year (never did this before). Great place, food, service, etc. The 1 hour massage on the beach for $15 US was fantastic, the Circus training course for my kids was a huge hit (and let the parents relax a bit in peace and quiet) and we had the BBQ cook out on our balcony where the chef comes by and cooks a private dinner for you. While a few staff members may not speak perfect English, it's not the US so don't expect they will be as fluent as you. Other members of the staff will help (even translate if required) and you will not have a more friendly, helpful staff anywhere else in the world. It's our new home away from home.

Hotel's great, location not so!
By CMS, 2/16/08
It's not really fair to downgrade the hotel for its location, but I've no other choice. The hotel is absolutely "top-notch" and you must expect to pay for this. However, if you want to go to or do things other than what the hotel has on-site, it's a 45 minute (or more) taxi ride to "anywhere else". Be prepared to rent a car or shell out quite a bit of money on taxi rides (meter taxis do NOT operate FROM the hotel unless you happen to catch one dropping someone off coming TO the hotel with a fare picked up elsewhere). If you want full pampering and everything close at hand, this is the place to be, but be prepared to pay "captive" prices for the privilege..

Unbelievable
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/17/08
Being from the US, I had no idea how beautiful Phuket would be. The people, the beach, the food all was to die for. I felt so good I did a Triathlon. A once in a life time experience. Good bye Hawaii

How relaxing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/9/07
My husband and I are from Texas living in Doha Qatar and we took a short break from work to see Thailand. The JW Mariott Phuket Resort and Spa was, by far, the best part of our Thailand adventure. The beds are great. The hotel atmosphere was so relaxing and the massages are the best that we have ever had. I would suggest to anyone to stay here and take day trips arranged by the hotel as they arrange everything from elephant trecking to offshore fishing and sight seeing. Stay away from downtown as if you go to Bangkok you will get enough of that there. Sit back and enjoy the beautiful grounds.

One of the nicest vacations I've had in my 30 years of travel. Could have stayed much longer, impecably clean and staff was super freindly ... can't wait to return.
