GREAT CHOICE!
By Elena M G, 10/05/09
We stayed there for 4 nights. The hotel is very comfortable. People are very nice and made us feel at home. Breakfast is great! The neighborhood is quiet and safe --we walked around even at night! There are fast food restaurants nearby, and you can have food delivered to the hotel. All in all, worth the money!

Train is too far from the hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/09/08
There is no kettle, no safe box in room and all the safe boxes behind the reception are fully occupied the time we visited . We were so struggling to keep our money and passports, in the end we left our passports at the "reception area" for 5 days. Staff are impolite, unfriendly and not so professional ( comparing to london )! Air conditioner is a bit noisy during night time. The train is too far from th hotel, over 15 mins walking if you walk at normal pace. Didn't feel like walking back to hotel in evening after 4-5 hrs shopping down town. There is no internet access only if you bring your own laptop, no internet access in reception's pc either, can't find the address of famous factory outlets through the staff, quite disappointing! Not reccomended for anyone who nearly £90( GBP) per night with such a poor service!!!

Great Stay Overall
By jonih, 08/16/08
Traveled with a group of 8 women and stayed here to visit NYC. We felt safe in this neighborhood even at night we walked to the subway. The subway was only about 10-15 walk from hotel. The breakfast was decent. The only problem we had was teh cab from LGA airport had a time finding the location for some reason and had to call the main station and they had to call the head quarters and took half hour longer to get to than it should have. I don't know why they had such a hard time finding it by hte adress. When they found out it was located off Queens Blvd and 39th st. they had no problem finding it. Overall, great location quiet and nice staff. Would recommend and stay again.

Great choice for the budget-conscious
By Alan, 06/10/08
This hotel worked out well for our visit to NYC. It is very quiet, despite the QMT name. The staff is helpful, and they have a nice breakfast. The room and beds are comfortable and clean. This is a great "base of operations" for a visit to New York. Note that the "3 blocks to subway" are long (avenue) blocks--maybe a 10-minute walk, total, through a reasonably nice neighborhood. Being on the #7 train line is very convenient. (For those unfamiliar with NYC subways, you need to take the #7 LOCAL, not the EXPRESS, on the way back.) For an NYC hotel, it's easy to drive to. Note that you have to loop around--right on Greenpoint, right on 39th St--to get to the convenient free parking lot.

Good Deal
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/19/08
Holiday Inn Express May,2008. Expressway is close to hotel but thanks to online imformation we had our ear plugs with us. Very comfortable accommodation and helpful staff. Again because of on line information we knew it was only a 10-15 minute walk to the # 7 subway station through a quiet Queens neighbour hood both day and night. Ask for a room on the parking lot side and you will not need ear plugs. Ordered in pizza was great! Enjoy New York and got a real taste of all of New York by riding the subway. People everywhere were helpful! A couple from west coast Canada

A NY Bargain but Sort of Far from Subway
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/31/07
This hotel is certainly cheaper than staying in Manhattan. The neighborhood is not great, but it is still OK. It is safe enough for me, a 26 year-old woman, to stay there again. From reading online, I was under the impression that the hotel was about three blocks walking distance from the subway. Wrong! It is easily six blocks--still walkable but not fun when it is pouring outside, like it was on my first day there... Furthermore, there seems to be some confusion over the subway stop that you use to get to the hotel. It is NOT the Hunters Point stop. It IS the Lowery Street stop. In short, I recommend staying at this hotel if you want a more reasonably priced nightly rate. You will not get a fancy hotel (for example, the rooms are small), but it will still be in good condition with pretty good employees to serve you.

best value for expensive NYC
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/18/07
Located just off the expressway with plenty of safe parking spaces, this is the best buy for driving to NYC and visiting Manhattan without going broke. The subway is exactly 15 minute walk through a good neighborhood to the #7 line (15 minutes to Manhattan). The hotel itself is the standard Holiday Inn Express (much newer than the old Holiday Inn model.) It has the exact same HHE breakfast one finds anywhere in the US. Rooms are clean, quiet (even facing the road) and very comfortable- lots of hot water. All the staff is great and extremely helpful. If you need a place to put your car and a good bed for the night-this is your place. We spent two days visiting colleges in Manhattan and this was the perfect spot. When we were done we hopped on the expressway and were out of the city in no time.

Holiday Inn Express Midtown Tunnel
By Dave, 05/22/07
The hotel was difficult to find but, Elizabeth, the Check In Associate helped me locate the site via cell phone. Parking on crowded city streets in a residential area was scarce but adequate. The rooms were clean, modern and adequate. This hotel is a small jewel near Manhattan with reasonable value.

Surprisingly Nice
By motmin24, 04/11/07
The hotel is clean and nicely decorated. The staff is courteous and helpful. The only draw back is that there are no restaurants close to the hotel. Other than that this a great place to stay.

Stayed Aug 18th-Aug 21st 2006
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/30/06
This is a great place to stay. Very reasonably priced, clean, and friendly. It was about a 15 minute walk to pick up the #7 Subway (which takes you into downtown Manhattan) and I was nervous, especially at night, but nothing happened. People said hello as they sat on their front porches. There are two small convenience stores along the way and once you get to the area you pick up the subway, there are lots of fast food restaurants. I highly recommend this hotel, although next time I think I'll skip the 15 minute walks to and from the subway and stay downtown Manhattan!
