Country Inn Suites By Carlson Charlotte I485 at Highway 74E NC, Matthews

On a dark and rainy night in May 2010 I stopped to call my wife 550 miles away. Although there were no available phones the clerk allowed me to use her personal cell phone. I am indebted to her and a Hotel that hired such an outstanding person...She probably saved my marriage....Thanks again Don in Pa.

The rooms were clean and in good condition. Overall, the stay was quite pleasant. Definitely worth the money.

The old manager was not there any longer and you could tell. The staff was not friendly, crabby even. The warm, welcoming feeling I was used to was not there. The room was not cleaned well, but after a 1 night stay, I didn't see the need to complain. I just checked out this morning and let it go. I will have to find another place to stay when I'm in South Charlotte. I'm really disappointed...I will not stay again.

I have stayed at other Country Inns and had good results. Not this time. Twice at check-in the front desk clerk gave us keys to an occupied room - So twice we surprised an unsuspecting couple. When we finally did get our room it was not the suite we had reserved - but rather a standard room located near the (heavily used)side exit closest to loud the highway.

This was a very clean and well maintained hotel. The rooms were good size and comfortable. My only complaint is that it's difficult to find. Although it sits right off the interstate, it's easy to miss the turn off and pass right by it.

We stayed in Matthews and booked at the Hampton Inn. We left there because of the cleanliness and service at the Hampton Inn. We came to Country Inn & Suites. What a great find! We loved it. Patty and Doreen are the BEST people we have ever met at a hotel. The manager, Robert, was so friendly to our kids. He was great. The breakfast lady (Donna?)was wonderful. She fed us well our whole stay! Without a doubt, the best hotel staff I have ever seen. The rooms were beautiful. The lobby was georgeous. They had a fireplace on with the Christmas decorations all lit up. We loved this place. We will stay at Country Inn & Suites in Mattews and everywhere else we can find them from now on! We also loved the INDOOR HEATED POOL! Our kids were in heaven! Everyone needs to stay there when they travel to Charlotte!
