Gulfside Resort, St. Pete Beach

Slack 'pass the buck' owners. Owners expect guests to pay for services they refuse to render. For example when reponding to complaints about the non-existance of their advertised 'heated' pool the 'crotchety' owner said: 'do you know how much the cost of propane is these days?' Guests who have been there a month don't get in the pool ONCE 'cause it's so cold.

Pool area is beautiful and well kept. Room was extremely small. Couldn't move the bed and there was about 5 inches on one side of it. My husband kept hitting his hand on the wall as he slept. Very clean with the exception of the disgusting carpet. My light colored Crocs got filthy just walking around the room! If the place got some tender loving care, it could be great. Finally, I could say that Bob, the owner, has no customer service skills; but I don't think that's true. He doesn't listen so it appears he has no customer service skills. It seems to be a place for active older adulsts.

When we made reservations we told 2 little babies are coming with us but he still gave us a top appartment with very steep stairs and we were the only guests at the time. Smoking is not allowed inside the appartment which is understandable but was not allowed outside by the pool or anywhere on the property. Floats were not allowed in the pool and Bob (the owner) made up rules as he goes. We felt as he was watching us every time we were not at the beach and stayed at the pool (every day different time) he would come out and do his exercise jogging in the water. His wife is the greatest person but she was the one doing all the errands so we did not see her much. Some other guests showed up couple of days before we left and they were complaining about the same issues also had a few run ins with Bob. The hotel is nicely updated but is not worth the abuse and not having clean towels every day and toilet paper provided for you.

We were welcomed by Bob and Suzanne (on-site Owners)to Gulfside Resort since our first trip to Florida back in 1990. Friendly atmosphere, beautiful surroundings, clean and comfortable apartments, clean pool, less than 5 minute walk to beach, and minutes from restaurants and stores. Coming from St. John's, Newfoundland we know what friendly hospitality is all about and Gulfside Resort has never disappointed us.
