We needed this vacation!

After reviewing all of our options in NH and VT it appeared that the overwhelming favorite ski destination was this Comfort Inn and Suites "in the middle of no where". It isn't slopeside but after reading all the reviews and some recommendations from my friends we decided to check it out. My wife and I (and our four kids) planned to ski at Burke Mountain for four days. The hotel's manager, Mr. Lohr (spelling?), checked us in and mentioned skiing at Jay Peak, Cannon, and Bretton Woods. Ultimately, we skied at Burke for two days and Bretton Woods for two days. Hands down I prefer Burke. My youngest enjoyed Bretton Woods more but the lift lines drove me nuts. You cannot beat the ski packages at this hotel. We paid $180 per night for all six of us to stay and that includes TWO lift tickets and hot breakfast for all six of us. The room was huge. It had two queen beds and a pullout sofa bed. The entire hotel is amazingly clean. Our kids loved the indoor pool (water could be warmer) and arcade. The ladies at the desk Brandy, Leslie and Judy were awesome. We got to know both really well. They helped find restaurants for us. Of all of the ones we ate at the one I liked the most was the Creamery. The level of service provided at this hotel is unique. Not in a bad way but it is so different from what I have grown to expect that it deserves mentioning. There are two people in the breakfast room that go out of their way to meet and greet everyone. They genuinely get to know you and your kids. Pat, a wonderfully crazy English woman is the best. Gene is a grandfatherly type that does a great job of making sure everyone is taken care of. The hotel's manager was in the breakfast room on our last day. He remembered us and stopped by our table to see how the vacation went. We thanked him for the great time and commended all of his employees that we had befriended. In the end, my family decided that St. Johnsbury isn't in the middle of no where, it is located close to three ski mountains and in an awesome town. We plan on making this our annual vacation spot. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. In these economic times, spend your dollars wisely and with people that appreciate your business.
