good value

good location 10 minute walk to the old city, rooms are not bad, no gym which is a surprise for a large hotel. they have nice common areas and you are across the street from the american colony and 2 other large hotels.it caters to mostly groups, so if you are on your own you might get a group wake up by mistake.

Wonderful Time
By Sharon, 2/1/08
Our service was very good. The room was clean and comfortable. It seemed to be located in a convenient location. The wait staff worked really hard to keep tables tidy and food tables full. The food was delicious. (especially try the white cake they serve in the morning located by the eggs. It was great)

The Olive Tree has all of the quality of a first class hotel along with personal attention by the staff. Excellent location for visiting the Old City. This is the place to stay!

Marginal Service
By michael, 5/28/07
We spent 6 nights at the Olive Tree in Jerusalem. Although the hotel was fairly upscale, we encountered some problems with the staff. We had hoped for a Much Better Experience. Pros - Good location next to the Old City, Good buffet & dining room staff (Kaled and Wadi). Cons - Front Desk NOT helpful (1) It took 16 hours with multiple calls and personal trips to the front desk to get the toilet in our room fixed (2) When attempting to get change, one of the staff tried to short change me and when I demanded my dollars back they gave me a really hard time. The staff in the bar area Consistantly tried to short change people in our group (In some cases substantially, change for $10 instead of $50), we insisted on reciepts to help alliviate the problem but this occured numerous times. We also needed a doctor and the hotel recommended someone who was not qualified to write perscriptions but charged us $100 anyway. We approached the hotel mangement but they declined to refund our money or make things right. I hope this is not indicative of a much larger problem with the hotel staff.

Great hotel
By Bennie, 1/7/07
Olive Tree hotel was great. Our group stayed there in March 2006 and it was a delight. Food was great, service and staff were so friendly and helpful. Hotel is beautiful and clean. The lobby shops have great prices and friendly staff. Definitely the best hotel in Jerusalem.

Never Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/1/06
We have stayed in several Jerusalem hotels and decided to try this one for a change. I felt, upon entering the lobby, that it was dark and the rooms were no exception - very dark and dismal. The Dining Room was a constant madhouse, especially in the evenings and the only redeeming factor was the pleasant head waiters etc. The food was very medicore and we heard several tour groups complain about the lack of variety and strange foods! We stayed for one extra week after the tour group left and were amazed at the appalling lack of cleanliness. The bathroom was never once cleaned properly, the dust that was in our room since we moved into it 10 days before, was still there when we left. We did have clean towels each day, but the bathroom had no ventilation and again was very dark and dimal. There were one or tow people at the reception desk who were remotely helpful, but the others were cold and unfriendly. We will definitely not be taking groups there in future.
