7 reviews for Willows Lodge, Woodinville
Awesome!
By KimS, 01/05/09
Our stay at the lodge was absolutely wonderful. I booked a two night stay at the lodge and a spa package. I saw some of the bad reviews after I had booked and was very apprehensive. My fears were unfounded. The staff was great. They made us feel welcome and were friendly and helpful. The room was awesome. Very relaxing. The beds and linens were so comfortable. We felt like we were in our own world for three days. All the lighting is on dimmer switches so you have the control to make it as soothing or as bright as you want. As for the privacy from the main room to the bath area, there is a wooden screen that can be slid to open the area or close it off. The toilet/shower area has a pocket door which can close off that area. There is etched glass between the shower and tub. I guess you could feel exposed if you didn’t close the wooden screen (which you have the option to do also). But the etching does come up over half way. I have a very sensitive nose and I am not a super “dog lover” but I never smelled any “dog smells”. We had 2 minor and I mean very minor disappointments. One there was no microwave. Which, has become standard in the rooms I like. Second the morning of our spa treatment, we ordered the steel cut oatmeal from room service. It was supposed to be there in 15-20 minutes. I called after waiting 45 minutes. They (The Barking Frog Restaurant) apologized and we did get it in about 10 more minutes, but it was not hot. The lateness caused us to be later then we wanted to for our treatment and we were unable to use the hot tub before our massages. The spa package was yummy. Linda was our massage therapist and Dusty did our Carita facial treatment. We highly recommend both of these ladies. Very professional and knowledgeable but also very fun and enjoyable. We are definitely making plans to return. If you are looking for a place that is special were you can forget the rest of the world, with two wineries, two wonderful restaurants, a brewery, spa and walking/ biking trails easy within walking distance and more if you want to drive a very short distance, this is it.

Worst room layout ever! No privacy!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/09/08
My husgand and I travel quite a bit, and after hearing that the Willows Lodge was listen by Travel & Leisure, we were really looking forward to staying there. The lodge itself is nice, the room was lovely, BUT the layout was so flawed. The designer who did these rooms put a large opening between the bedroom and the bathroom to showcase the lovely 'zen' bathroom. I am sure this seemed like a lovely ide however by changing the designer's plans, the staff totally destroyed the layout of the room. What happened is that there originally was a blind between the bath and bedroom areas. This is important as the toilet area is just off the shower which is glassed in and covered only by an etching which goes up abit higher then half way. (From the inside of the bathroom, I saw hooks which had originally held a blind but that had been removed.) Once the blind was removed, and this space could not be closed, from the bedroom one person can now watch the other use the toilet. This is not something we usually share in our family so it was made our stay quite unpleasant for me. When I went to talk to the management about this as we were leaving, the staff member told me that quite a few people have complained about this...and that management is 'looking into it'. Not that it is going to be changed. To put a blind in there again would give guests the option to keep the bedroom dark when someone is cleaning up in the bathroom or is up in the night. And it would totally take care of the issue of having to be aware of the bathroom issues of companions. What a shame that the 'management' doesn't care enough to give guests this choice.

Yikes, this is supposed to be a nice joint?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/21/08
I wasn't the one who actually stayed in the lodge. My husband and I purchased a stay at the Willows for my sister's wedding night. I even called a day before to confirm everything was set, and was sent an email confirmation stating that all was well. When my sister and her husband arrived, with their friend who had driven them to the lodge, the front desk said they had no payment for the room, and as my sister and her husband didn't have a purse on them, having just come from their wedding (and they were under the impression it had been taken care of...), the friend of their had to put down her card. My sister tried to ensure that they would use my card instead, and she was assured that yes, they indeed had the correct card. She even checked with the front desk again in the morning. Well, they charged the other person's card, and since then, it has been a nightmare trying to get this straightened out, all the while, the lodge trying to intimate it was my mistake, even though I jumped through all of their hoops. I am really disappointed. This is supposed to be a great place to stay, but this has really soured my opinion of the Willows, and I will advise anyone wanting to stay there that the service is holier-than-thou, and that they've obviously forgotten the industry they are in. Hospitality. It was their WEDDING NIGHT. This should have been a no-brainer. Thumbs down. It's been five days and they still have not fixed this. I just made my 7th call to them.

Atrocious
By Robert, 02/12/07
This was the worst hotel experience I have had in my life. On the plus side, the hotel is very attractive and we enjoyed the food. The hotel booked us in a room next to the banquet facility where a wedding was taking place - our room was surrounded by wedding guests. The hotel was unable or unwilling to move us to a room where we could have peace and quiet. If you go here, you must insist that you not be in any of the ground floor rooms next to the banquet facilities if you want to get any sleep. It is way too expensive for the shabby treatment we received.

Plan on returning every year!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/16/05
This is the absolute best hotel we've ever stayed in. The rooms are so cozy and 'warm', with the atmosphere making a person that stays here feel completely pampered. Between the fireplace in the room, and the patio outside facing the garden, we enjoyed it all. The location is great, nestled between winery's. The grounds offer a place to have a romantic stroll, or get out and run or bike ride. We were here for our honeymoon, and to attend the jazz festival held right across from the hotel. Perfect location! The service was so awesome, we've decided to return every year.

One of my favorite hotels!
By Naina, 05/10/05
I've stayed at the Willows Lodge twice in the past couple years. The first time I was on a business trip, and I thought the hotel was so incredible that I vowed to return with my husband so we could enjoy all the wonderful aspects that make it the perfect romantic getaway (which we did in Sept 2004). First of all, the location in Woodinville, WA is lovely. The hotel is walking distance to 3 wineries and the Red Hook brewery, so you can go wine/beer tasting without even getting in the car. It's also adjacent to a lovely trail along the Sammamish river. The rooms are fabulous, with gas fireplaces, CD and DVD players, and luxurious bathrooms. Nice touches include robes, herbal tea and coffee, high-end toiletries, and free high-speed internet access. Unlike many other luxury hotels, parking is free, and a very generous continental breakfast with fresh fruit and pastries is included with the room. The grounds are well-maintained, with flowers, fountains, and sculpture in little nooks. The hotel has an impressive collection of Northwest Coast art, and a cozy, homey feel. There is a world-class restaurant (the Herb Farm) on the grounds, as well as a more casual restaurant (the Barking Frog) that also serves wonderful meals. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and while I encountered new people on both visits who were still learning the ropes, they made sure I was taken care of. The hotel is also convenient to Redmond, for those with business at Microsoft. But it is such a romantic place you'll be sorry to be there alone...
