Close to historic Pittsburgh
We booked a night for Thanksgiving evening, and the price (about $130) was a little better than comparable good hotels in the downtown area. The view was beautiful, with sights of the Delaware on the left, historic Pitt on the right, and the pool (through the glass ceiling) below. The room was a good size, even though it was probably the "value" size and rate. All the staff was very attentive.
The cardkey requirement for the elevator is added security.
We flew into Pittsburgh, intending to take a rental car out (Avis location was in the hotel garage) so we were determined to not taxi or drive the short ride from the Pitt airport (which is fairly close to downtown). But, we were told this hotel doesn't have a shuttle, so we took the train and buses, which were not bad (people were friendly, at least on the holiday) but required several transfers. Anyway, after dropping bags at the room, we strolled back across the street to old downtown Pittsburgh, which is well maintained and developed, romantic, and historical. So this is hotel is recommended - book through their reservation desk and hope they get a shuttle.
