Modern Wonder
By Alejandro, 01/26/09
This hotel was amazing! Especially the rooms which got renovated and were open to the public since January 10, 2009. Their is flat screen tvs, and the most confortable beds you can imagine. The view is spectacular from the rooms overlooking the Atlantic. The rooms have a tropical color theme and have everything from dishwashers to jacuzzis. Their is two pools and a great, relaxing beach. If you go on a holiday they have free drinks, candy, and snacks as well as a game room and movie nights. The staff is well trained and the housekeeping service is wonderful, they leave everything shiny and clean. Their is three restaurants from elegant to picnic at the beach. And then their is the spa and the excercise room...with amazing treatment rooms and massagists...no wonder its one of the best spas in the world. I strongly recommend this hotel to any age group.

tips, tips and more tips
By knickers, 02/26/08
my husband and I just got back from a week at this hotel. It was lovely, beautiful, comfortable all of the above but I couldn't stand how many times we had to tip people. every time we turned around there was a hand out for money. I got so tired of tipping everyone for pulling our rented car up everyday, it was ridiculous. They wont let you get your own car, so on top of them charging you 35.00 a day for it you have to tip them to go drive it 20 ft out of the lot right there. YOu can see your car right there. The bar outside is nice but the drinks cost 15.00 a piece. we didnt realize that and charged them to our room, Imagine our surprise with the tip added in. 40.00 for 2 drinks. crazy if you are there for a week. grounds are beautiful and immaculate but be prepared to spend a couple hundred extra on tips, etc. taxi to miami beach is 40.00 one way also. not much to do around the hotel at all.

good service average food
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/22/07
Great service at ritz but food is average at the hotel. I was find ritz carlton housekeeping and front of house service to be good however I find that the food is average and not very creative. They have had the same breakfast buffet in every ritz for several years no changes since I was at the last ritz in amelia island. The room service menu has very little selection and it arrives cold, I think they try to discourage room service by giving limited choices and force you into the restaurants. Our first night at cipiono the food never arrived we had to walk out as it was well over an hour after our soup and no food came. the manager brought the food to our room instead. Very good make up but not a good thing never to get our food. the mexican rest near beach has great ambiene and pretty good food but service is a little slow and disorganized. I think f & b is designed to make money versus tantalize the taste buds. overall good hotel that could be better if they get the food program going.

Not happy about Spa
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/02/07
I went for a spa treatment at the Ritz Carlton spa. Specifically, I had a back facial on my last day at the hotel. My back itched badly for the next three days - perhaps reacting badly to some of the chemicals used in the treatment. I called in to complain and was told that I would receive a partial refund for the treatment (20% refund) but that never took place. The hotel itself was fine - the hotel interior was ornate and beautifully decorated. The rooms were maintained well. However, the pool was very crowded and pool side service was not great. Basically, if not for the dishonesty from the staff (particularly the manager (J.) at the spa, I would consider recommending the place and returning to it.

Don't believe the website
We booked a "resort view" room that on the website was described as having a "spectacular view of a tropical garden" which in actuality was a view of roof of a building. When we complained to the front desk, we were informed that this is the view from all resort view rooms. Don't believe the website description.

Not really worth it...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/17/07
For the prestigious 5 Diamond Triple AAA award they have it doesn’t live up to previous 5 Diamond resorts we have stayed at. The service is not consistent the staff is shoddy; no one was following a standard (pool service, room service, housekeeping, ect.) and we were not impressed with the menus at the restaurants. The Rumbar is cool but be prepared to pay to “reserve” yourself a couch if you want a place to sit for the evening entertainment. We will never waste our money at this place ever again.

can't believe it was a five star hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/19/07
We went to the hotel as a guest of a international company and were expecting a five star hotel with five star service and we were shocked at how bad the service was. Other people in our group were not happy either. There was a leaking room and puddles on the floor, and the hotel just ignored it. I had a friend who hurt her foot and couldn't find ice anywhere and no one was willing to help her out. Our floor had a dirty rug and the walls needed cleaning. The room service only came to clean our room because I talked to the desk at 2:30 in the afernoon. When we left we called the bell man but no one came so we just took the baggage down ourselves. It was not a busy morning. The hotel itself was beautiful and so was the setting and the waiter and staff were very attentive. I also used the spa services and was very happy and impressed. I believe the hotel should make some serious changes to maintain their five star rating. I have had better service at a two star hotel.

Garden of Eden!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/10/07
What a beautiful, magical place! It is breathtakingly beautiful! And peaceful! Everywhere people were lounging and sleeping on hammocks, chaises, on the beach, by the pool - very restful, green atmosphere. Was surprised that absolutely nothing is free here, so be careful. You might be used to a free continental breakfast but one muffin can set you back $4. It might be fun to go the "tequila tasting" but it's not free! One shot can cost you a lot! But every single person at that hotel was kind, helpful, cheerful and pleasant. The inside and outside were gorgeous and YES those beds are DIVINE!
