I Would Have Rather Stayed at a Bus Station
By ~ Ternie ~, 10/28/08
I checked into jacuzzi room 130 at 2pm on 10/25/08. The room was filthy, had not been vacuumed and there were dead bugs on the floor. The jacuzzi tub hadn't been cleaned so I had to wipe out the tub before use. Housekeeping came to my door not once, not twice, but THREE times in the first two hours of checking in trying to deliver me towels. Had they spoken English, I probably could have gotten them to clean out the tub. Upon the first interruption, I put up the Do Not Disturb sign. The second disturbance, I had to point to the sign on the outside of the door. The third time, I was asleep and they came into the room anyway, just to deliver the towels I told them I didn't need. Around 6pm, I needed change and stood at the front desk for over 10 minutes without ever being acknowledged. There were people behind me waiting to check in, so I decided to go back to the room and order pizza. About 20 minutes later, I went back to the front desk to get change, and the gentlemen behind me were just being checked in. It took the clerk over 20 minutes to check in the guests that were already pre-registered to the hotel. As I was waiting at the desk to get change, my husband attempted to call the front desk on three separate occasions to inform them that we were ordering pizza, only to be hung up on all three times. I took a shower that night and was going to use the blowdryer, only it wouldn't turn on. Upon some messing around, I did get it to turn on, but all the lights in the room flickered when I did turn it on, so I immediately turned it off. At checkout, our stay got even worse. I was charged more than $60 over the rate of the room, and Vicki, the front desk clerk attempted to double charge my account on checkout. She stated the card was only pre-authorized, but when I checked my bank account online, there was a charge for almost $200 on the card. When my husband's card wouldn't accept the second charge (the same bank account), she stated she credited one card then charged the other. When my husband asked her why she did that, it was "because I told her to" which I did not. She told me I would have to call my bank because it was their problem, not hers. I asked her to call her manager, and she refused to do so. I asked her for the corporate number to see what could be done, and she ignored my request, telling me she was too busy when no one else was at the desk. Upon asking her again, she became hostile and rude, then called the police station once, then 911 because we were "unruly" then told us to leave because she had our license plate number anyway. People in the lobby were laughing at her stupidity. Ultimately, since my bank was closed (it was Sunday after all) I had to call my father-in-law, who was out of state, to pay with his card. When he called the hotel, Vicki put him on hold for over 7 minutes before hanging up on him. When he called back, she demanded him to fax his photo ID along with other personal information that was not needed for the transaction. The day after checkout, I checked my online banking and it showed two charges for the stay. This was the stay from hell, and I wish I had just stayed at home instead of trying to relax and rest. If I could give negative number reviews, I would do so.

Would not stay at again!
By Katie, 10/17/08
Location great, hotel horrible. First we were given a disgusting room that had not been house cleaned. We were given a second room that was cleaned but the A/C made noise, the alarm clock was broken, and the wall outlet was burned out. The shower water was not romotely warm even to begin with. We could hear the people above and below us during the night. When I finally made it home and checked my banking account online, I had been charged over $50 extra for the room!!! The room already wasn't worth what I agreed to pay! I'm still fighting for the money back. I will not stay ever again!

Horrible Business/Anniversary Experience
By J, 07/07/08
Paid almost $300 for 2 jacuzzi suites - 1 was filthy and had to have maid come clean it (spanish speaking maids thought I didn't speak spanish and complained the entire time - let them know before they left out that I understood and did not appreciate their disrespect), fire alarm and jacuzzi light torn down from ceiling (clear fire and safety violations); the other, dirty mirrors, caulking torn away from jacuzzi, holes in ceiling. What was paid for the two rooms could have repaired everything, what a disappointing mess! No other suites available, had to deal with what we got due to 4th of July weekend bookings. Maintenance pouring chemicals in pool while children swimming. Pre-arranged late check-out (noon) with 11:30 am wake up call totally disregarded by maids pounding on door for room service, front desk calling to tell us check out was at 11 - no communication between staff at all. Continental breakfast: danishes stale and hard, waffle griddle dirty, juice watery. Entire front side of hotel under construction and no one bothered to let anyone know of the mess at time reservations were made 2 weeks in advance, let alone when they were directly confirmed with the hotel staff. 100% satisfaction guarantee is their claim, discourtious staff and nasty accomodations is their game. Horrible business experience! And worst of all, the business guests that accompanied us for the evening were celebrating their anniversary - "hi, here's your quarters, enjoy your filthy jacuzzi and listen to Ron the maintenance guy accuse you of damaging the room even before you have gotten into it - what a nasty mess! Would not recommend it in any way to any one! Intend to file formal complaint with corporate headquarters. When the hotel was contacted the following day, had the displeasure of speaking to a "Vicky" who decided to call me back and lecture me on customer service. Good thing I tape recorded and have pictures of everything! Nasty, Rude, Unpleasant, and TRULY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE! JRowe

Great hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/14/06
This hotel was very nice. It had an indoor heated pool though it was small it worked. The breakfast was delicious. Waffles, biscuits and gravy and a variety of other stuff. My room was very clean. They were doing renovations and called me the next day to see if they could come in to my room to install a refridge and microwave. The tv is a lot bigger than other hotels. It was brand new. It had a great loation and easy acess to all attractions in kansas city. any direction we went, we were only about 20-30 minutes away. Great information for dining. We went and ate at the Plaza which is about 7 miles away. The staff was very helpful. Ricky was there when we checked in and had many ideas of things we could see or should see why we were there. I never had any problems while I was there even though the area looks a little a little rough. Don't also just a book by its cover.

A great place to stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/30/06
We were in Kansas City for a convention at the Convention Center downtown, and this Comfort Inn was about a mile away and with easy access. We were at meetings all day and evening so didn't take advantage of the pool and other options available. We were impressed with the quality and variety of breakfast--Belgian waffles, biscuits and gravy, boiled eggs, fresh fruit, cereal, etc.--a larger variety than any other place we've stayed. We would most certainly stay at this Comfort Inn again.

I will never ever go back!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/13/06
I would never ever stay in this hotel again!! The first room we got was extremely dirty and there were stains on the sheets. We requested a new room and it seemed to be much better but we did not have time to look at everything because we were in a hurry to get to the baseball game and were gone until 2:00am. When we came back and pulled back the sheets there were bugs both dead and alive on the top sheet. At this point we were extremely disgusted and appauled. After we realized the bugs and the filth, we called the front desk to have them come and look at the bugs but they refused. We then decided it would be best just to leave. We went to the front desk and the attendant informed us that we were unable to have our money refunded immediately and that we would have to call and talk to a manager in the morning. We then left at 2:30am and made our trip back to Minnesota (6 hours). I called the manager in the morning and could not contact him personally, but I left a message and never received a call back. I then proceeded to call again the next day and finally got him on the phone but somehow the call got disconnected and I have been unable to reach him since. I have filed two complaints through Choice Hotels and they did send me a letter informing me the manager will contact me in 7-10 days. I am outraged by the service that I received and would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

I'll stay again next time I'm in Kansas City!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/18/06
The staff was excellent! They bent over backwards to accommodate us. We were able to check in two hours early, and although breakfast was only suppose to run until 9 a.m., they kept it opened and well-stocked usually until around 10 a.m. Rooms were nice and clean. Easy access on and off I-70, and we had NO traffic noise in our room which faced the parking lot. Good value for the money! I'll stay again next time I'm in Kansas City.

NOT WHAT WE PAID FOR OUR SHEEP HAVE A CLEANER TRAILER THAN WE HAD IN A ROOM!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/21/05
I made these reservations for my husband and son as they were there for a livestock show. The room was dirty (the carpet looked like it needed to have the carpet ripped out and laid down new carpet) and the pool was closed for remodeling(which is the BIGGEST REASON for reserving this hotel)and the refrigerator, (well that was another story) we couldn't find one in the room and then was told at the desk that the refrigerators are only in the suites. Well that needs to be addressed because we were charged for a room that had a refrigerator. On top of everything else we constantly had airplanes zooming overhead, and trains blowing their horns, and never got a restful nights sleep EVER. They were so glad to be checking out as quick as they did. Although they would have moved to another hotel but there were none available so they had to stay there. My son said he would rather sleep with the sheep in the livestock trailer where he could smell the sheep pee because the room smelled the same way. Yuck! How disgusting! I will never make this mistake again. The front of the building is definitely luring as on the internet it's appears to be a clean, neat, hotel but when you get into the rooms IT IS DEFINITELY ANOTHER STORY! Book somewhere else not here, trust us we know for a fact now. I WOULDN'T RECOMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE NOT EVEN MY ANIMALS!!!!!!!!!!! JWR OKLAHOMA
