Residence Inn by Marriott Newark Elizabeth Liberty Airport, Elizabeth

We used this as our home base during a recent trip to NY. It was $300 less than comparable hotels in the city. The hotel was undergoing renovation, but did not interfere with our floor or the lobby. It was easy to get into NYC, though a bit time consuming -- about 50 minutes from the hotel to Penn Station NYC. Still, between the money we saved on the room and tolls and parking in NYC, we plan to be back.

My husband and I stayed here from June 27, 2007 through July 12, 2007 in a 2 bedroom suite. We were on a 7 week business trip and had taken our 4 children along to vacation. All 6 of us agree that this was, by far, the greatest hotel stay that we have ever had. Claudia and Nancy, at the front desk, were not only professional and courteous, they were also friendly, always smiling and helping to accomodate guests in every way. This hotels high standards on cleanliness were obvious. The whole hotel shined. Even the carpeting was bright and clean. Each time I saw John W., he was cleaning something else, and yet, he turned and greeted us politely. Our room was immaculate and plenty big enough for our whole family. The beds were the most comfortabe beds that we have ever experienced at any hotel. We all greatly enjoyed the fireplace. The breakfast had everything immaginable that a person could want for breakfast. The staff worked fast making sure that all areas were cleaned and all food was fresh. The patio area was great! The children were completely fenced in and safe while I sat outside to do my paperwork. They enjoyed playing with new friends and catching fireflys. Most importantly, the Guest Care Manager, Edythe Jansen, was exceptional. She greeted all guests as if welcoming them into her home. We felt like we were as close to home as we could be during our stay. Edythe even cooked hamburgers and hot dogs in a downpour for all of her guests! Great management is the core to a sucessful business. This hotel greatly exceeded our expectations. We will now and forever be loyal Marriott customers. Thank you for a exceptional stay!

First of all. Get good directions. This hotel may only be a few miles from Newark Airport but it takes a few turns and twist to get there. If made me feel safe when you checking in. The car parking area is gated. I did see police patrolling the area. As with all Residence Inns rooms they are spacious and the layout pretty much the same. I would recommend this property if one was staying in the NYC area and did not mind paying the 6.00usd toll to enter in NYC. If you want a larger room than NYC hotels and better bargin for you dollar this is the place. There is a shopping outlet not far from the property and a Ruth Cris before entering. Just make sure you get directions from the front desk as you do not want to get lost or misplaced in the area at night

All the way from Montreal, Canada...I took a shopping trip with my family to Jersey Gardens Factory Outlets for the weekend and decided on this hotel based on the feedback online. Unlike other reviewers, I do not find the hotel is that far from the airport. With Google maps, I had no problem finding the place. Yes, it was a very clean and nice hotel. Not used to having a kitchen in a hotel room...but it was great for heating up leftovers and cooking light items. There are no grocery stores close by but that is no the fault of the hotel. Planes are constantly flying by but I could not hear them inside the hotel. Pool was a little small but sufficient for my kids. I own an online toy business so internet access is important for me. Internet connection in the rooms are decent but the wireless service was off and on. Oh ya, don't forget to check out the jumbo Toys R Us located just a few minute from this hotel (Ikea is also close by). The TRU is pretty cool....however, I prefer the one in Time Square. Overall, I would definitely return to this hotel and recommend it to all. David Mark (Cmdstore + Toysonfire)

The hotel room was clean and comfortable, the staff were helpful overall. The in room internet connection was very good. The wireless was off and on and was not working at all times.

The hotel seemed rather new and was clean. Even the laundry room was clean. The breakfast buffet was nice as well as the warm cookies in the evening and the hopitality snacks between 5-7 Monday to Thursday. The Studio room was spacious. The staff was nice and professional. The only thing I would address would be security. The side doors were fequently left unlatched. The shuttle drivers were nice.
