ATTN: DO NOT COME HERE!!! STAY AWAY!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/3/11
If I could give this place a NEGATIVE 100, I would. DO NOT COME HERE!!!!! ATTN: ALL travelers, please read: this happened on April 15, 2011 at 11:56 pm (check-in time), until April 16, 2011 around 4:30 am.
Let me start with a base story so you can kinda picture everything as it's happening. My dad and I are driving on the road. He's only had about 3 hours of sleep in the past day. It's now almost 12 midnight and he's extremely exhausted so we decide to go to the nearest Super 8. My dad goes to check-in and comes back with the statement bill. Wow...only $45 including tax for a 2-bedroom! What a bargain...!!! We pack, get our luggage out, and head upstairs to room 202. My dad goes and takes a shower, then goes straight to bed, turning off the lights. I use the bathroom light to find my things so I'm able to take a shower, without disturbing him. Once I'm out, I quickly change and go to bed, realizing I'll only have only 3 hours of sleep before I have to wakeup. About 30 minutes after I lay down, I start feeling extremely itchy. All over my back and legs. I figured it was just from shaving my legs (you know that dry after-shave itch you sometimes get)...but I didn't try to figure out why my back also itched. I wokeup about 4 times throughout the entire night. We had to leave the hotel at 3 am to be back on the road. When 4 am came, I was relieved (since it was painfully difficult to get rest), at the same time anxious because we were running 1-hour behind schedule. I still had to get ready, and quick! I woke my dad up. He turned on the lights and as soon as I lifted the covers to get up, I saw bed bugs and other gross bugs crawling all over my bed and me!!! I was beyond horrified!!!!! I screamed and jumped out of the bed. I felt like I was in a horror movie. My dad lifted the covers on his side and they were there too!! I almost cried from the shock and feeling of disgust. I came to get a few hours of sleep, not catch some disease!!! My dad calls the front desk employee so he can come upstairs to take a look at our room. 2 minutes later there's a knock on the door. It's the same guy from earlier when we checked in. We tell him what we saw and he responds with his chopped up, accented, foreign tone of voice: "well I can tell you they weren't here last night." So my dad goes: "Oh really? Are you accusing us of bringing the bugs here then?" and the dumb--s liar goes: "No, that's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is this has never happened here before." Yeah right!! We told him the least he could do at this point was to refund our money. He refused to give us a refund because we had stayed there for more than 30 min. I made him sign a statement as a witness to confirm he saw what happened to us. His name was "AJ" and that's all he could tell me. No last name, no full name, just a nickname. Who knows if maybe he made that name up on the spot just to cover himself. A few days later I had to go to the emergency room and all our things had to be exterminated. I will forever be traumatized. This is an unethical business. The situation was handled in an unprofessional and irresponsible manner by the employee on duty. He should've taken this seriously. This Super 8 motel needs to be shut down or blown away by a tornado. It should've happened on the April 26-29 rampage. Not to sound rude, but that's what should've happened instead of taking all the innocent victims' homes. We have tried to report this to the Health Department of Lownees County (which is the county this motel resides in), but no one ever got back to me. I will be making calls again and again until someone responds. Drastic measures need to be taken. If the city of Lake Park cares about improving their community and getting more business, they should start with shutting this craphole down...it's burning the entire city's reputation.
