You get what you pay for
I found a great deal online for this hotel. Now I wish I had tried one of the many other marginally pricier hotel options in the area. I checked in late (10pm) and had to wait at least 15 minutes before I could get someone to the front desk to help me. During this time, I listened to an attendant take a call from another guest complaining about the level of noise in the surrounding rooms. I should have known how unpleasant my stay was going to be then and there. I can't comment on any of the ammenities, since my stay was to be strictly for sleeping only, but after being asleep for nearly 30 minutes, I was awakened by what sounded like someone repeatedly jumping off their bed onto the floor in the room above me. Now, I know that this isn't necessarily the fault of the hotel, but after I was wakened to this racket, I was kept up my (1) a newborn baby crying incessantly in the next room (due to the paper thin walls, it sounded like it was in my own room, (2) the constant sound of water running through pipes whenever someone near me flushed a toilet or used the sink, and (3) voices coming from every direction. The hotel has got to take some of the blame for the plumbing, the thin walls, and poor quality control/enforcement of the other guests. To top it all off, the clock radio alarm randomly went off at promptly midnight, leading me to throw my clothes into my bag and go downstairs to request another room. When I finally got someone to help me at this post-midnight hour (another 15 minutes at least) I was given another room. After an additional trek up the painfully slow elevator, I discovered that my new room had not been cleaned. I was seriously contemplating going to another hotel for the night, but I allowed them one more chance to fix the problem. Finally, they put me in a room on the third floor and at the end of the hall, which at least provided some quiet for the rest of the night. However, it felt like the air conditioner had been running (in December) so I turned on the heat (lowest level). Halfway through the night the room felt like a sauna. Needless to say I hit the road as soon as I could in the morning, but was tired and underrested all day. I probably would have been better off sleeping in my car for the night.
