Disappointed, mislead, will not stay here again.
When we booked this hotel for our recent trip to Disneyland, the location was indicated as about 1 mile from the park with easy transportation on the ART shuttle/bus. This was very misleading/inaccurate. It is much more than a mile from the park. The shuttle does run about every 20-30 minutes, but what they don't tell you is that they shut down entirely around lunchtime - so forget about going back to your room for a mid-day break. They also stop service 30 minutes after the park closes, so you will need to take a taxi back if you want to have dinner at Downtown Disney or a character dinner at the resort, or anywhere else really. The hotel is inconvenient to everything, which we learned when we arrived. The hotel is surrounded by a terrible neighborhood and the freeway, there are no restaurants (except the restaurant at the hotel next door - average and expensive, after all, you are pretty much a captive customer.) or convenience/grocery stores you can walk to - not that I would in that neighborhood. Would be better if you had your own car, although watch out for break-ins, there are notices posted at the hotel warning of the crimes. Also, we figured the complimentary breakfast would add value and be a plus to the stay. The food was terrible! The eggs were inedible, the quality of the sausage and bacon were similar to what you'd get at McDonald's. They have fresh fruit, yougurt - but it's the same everyday - no variety. They only change the style of eggs and switch between sausage and bacon. We stayed 4 nights, by the 3rd morning the kids didn't want to eat breakfast at all because they didn't like it either. If you're ok with complimentary cereal for breakfast, than this is ok - it's about the only thing that didn't taste bad. While the rooms were ok (old cigarette burns, stains on the carpet), I was looking forward to being able to use the refrigerator to have some easy and quick food available to save some money on dinners - unfortunately we couldn't because there were no stores nearby - you either need a car or take a taxi. Overall, the hotel is in serious need of refirbishing - everything seems to be marked, marred, stained, or worn out. The staff were pleasant at check-in and check-out, but it would have been nice if they mentioned the ART service breaks and stop times when we inquired about ART fares and service. This was a learning experience, next time we will stay at the Disneyland Resort - it's worth the extra money. The money we saved by booking the Staybridge turned out not to be a savings at all considering the transportation issues, location, and inconvenience to everything.
