Fairly nice place to stay BUT...

I booked online. I put in for a AAA discount as we are members as well as Best Western Rewards members. The rates came up and I choose a room that specifically stated pet friendly room which was more expensive than the same two bedded rooms. Understandable as I expect to pay more for my pet. An email was sent back to me with the rate including tax being roughly $86.45. When I checked out the bill showed $85 for the room, an additional $20 for a pet fee and then of course tax included for a grand total of $116 plus. When I asked the clerk she said they don't give any discounts for pet rooms and the pet policy states there is a $20 fee. My mistake on the fee as I assumed since the room was already more, I was paying a fee for a pet there. I hadn't read it but now that I have, it does mention a $20 fee but does NOT mention you won't get your discount because of the pet. I think many don't read it as one would assume you are already paying more when the pet friendly rooms sell higher than the others. But okay, I get the $20, whatever. I don't get and am a little miffed that you can't have your AAA discount because of the pet. Seems like I am paying twice for my pet that way doesn't? Our room was fine and it was just as fine when we checked out as our dog is short haired and hardly noticeable in room. Given this policy and the fact that we travel with dog and kids frequently, we will NOT stay here again. The next night we stayed at a Best Western in Caldwell just 30 miles down the road. Great room, great breakfast, good rates and just a $5 pet fee.
