LOVE IT..LOVE IT...LOVE IT
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/25/10
We stayed at the Sofitel a few weeks ago & absolutely loved it!! This hotel is a prime example of what customer service should be. Every single person in this hotel went out of their way to make sure we were happy and couldn't have been more courteous and friendly. It was also obvious that everyone else staying there was enjoying their stay as much as we were. We've stayed at alot of Chicago hotels but this one won us over...we won't be staying anywhere else when in Chicago:) The only little tiny downside was that it was my birthday & my husband asked if we could get an upgrade or do they offer something special and he was told "i'm afraid we dont"...a free drink or something would have been great but I still love ya anyway!

Best In Chicago
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/14/09
We have stayed at The Sofitel numerous times. It is not the only Chicago hotel we will visit. The atmosphere is relaxed, upscale and exudes class. The staff, from management to service to cleaning staff are all friendly and helpful. The rooms are modern and extremely well maintained. The bar and restaurant are excellent. We truly enjoy every stay and leave looking forward to our return.

Not that impressed!
By bahamas girl, 1/21/09
From reading the reviews, I expected the Sofitel to be a cut above the rest, but actually it wasn't. The room was very small and not really impressive. The king size bed looks more like a standard queen, no headboard, just a mattress and frame pushed against the wall with a portrait hanging overhead. The highlight of the entire room was the bathroom, but the toilet paper was cheap! The service and staff were good but not great. Upon checking out i was not asked by Cashier 34 "how was my stay?" nor was i thanked for choosing the Sofitel, not even "have a good day"! I was just blatantly reminded that i needed to pay $5.50 for a can of pringles that i had taken out of the minibar in the room. I have stayed at the Westin, the Four Seasons, the Ritz, and numerous other four and five star properties all around the world and have had a much better experience. I expected a lot more from the Sofitel. The hotel at best was just adequate. On the upside, the location was great, walking distance to most of the major restaurants and stores. The bed, although small, was very comfortable and clean. The bellmen are very friendly and helpful.

Unquestionably a superb place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/6/08
Great service, location, ambience and beds. Clean. Warm and friendly bar. I would --and have-- recommended to others. If you are a coffee drinker, there is no coffeemaker in the room

First-Rate Hotel!
By Yin-Ling Q, 7/15/08
One of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. The rooms were AMAZING, Bathrooms were FIRST-CLASS, and Service was IMPECCABLE. The location was perfect... walking distance to John Hancock Tower, Rush St, Michigan Ave., and Red Line Train Station. The price is a bit high (but typical for the location and the high standard), but I found a good online deal. I hardly ever write reviews, so I felt this hotel deserved my 5-star write-up.

Love it!!!
By Tiffany, 7/7/08
I loved this place! It is one block for Michagen Ave. The lobby was beautiful and the people are so helpful. The room was breath taking. Ask for a higher up floor.

One of the best hotels in Chicago, Great location.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/4/07
Stayed here before and this must be one of the best in its category. Peninsula is nicer but costs two to three times more. Great locations, quiet compare to Michigan Ave. hotels.
