Not that impressed!
From reading the reviews, I expected the Sofitel to be a cut above the rest,
but actually it wasn't. The room was very small and not really impressive.
The king size bed looks more like a standard queen, no headboard, just a
mattress and frame pushed against the wall with a portrait hanging overhead. The highlight of the entire room was the bathroom, but the toilet
paper was cheap! The service and staff were good but not great. Upon
checking out i was not asked by Cashier 34 "how was my stay?" nor was
i thanked for choosing the Sofitel, not even "have a good day"! I was just
blatantly reminded that i needed to pay $5.50 for a can of pringles that i
had taken out of the minibar in the room.
I have stayed at the Westin, the Four Seasons, the Ritz, and numerous
other four and five star properties all around the world and have had a much
better experience. I expected a lot more from the Sofitel. The hotel at best
was just adequate.
On the upside, the location was great, walking distance to most of the
major restaurants and stores. The bed, although small, was very comfortable and clean. The bellmen are very friendly and helpful.
