Would NOT go back- NOT LIKE A NORMAL HOTEL!
We find this hotel through Craig's List. The rooms were advertised under short term corporate housing and the manager advertised a 1 bed studio for $899 a month so that is why we chose them. We ended up paying A LOT more than advertised, but we needed a 2 bed and were charged approx $1400 a month or weekly $344.00. So don't pay attention to any advertising on Craig's List...they won't honor it!
We stayed at this hotel just recently for two weeks in July 2011, while waiting to close on a home we just bought. First the rooms are old! The carpet is old, DIRTY, stained and has things stuck in it. The mattresses are stained and not comfortable at all. We stayed in Room 204 which was a double bed room. The rooms are small with a good sized frig, 2 burner electric stove and a sink with a few cabinets. There is a also a large place to hang up clothes. Bad thing was we heard every step the people above us (There are three floors to the hotel) made. They sounded like a heard of elephants most days! There was also a party on Saturday nights above us that we had to complain to the front desk 3 times and finally at 3 AM they kicked them out and about 20 teenagers walked out of the hotel! The countertop of the kitchnette was chipped and stained. The microwave plate did not turn and burned everything. The toaster only toasted one side of the bread and we had to take it down to get it replaced. So honestly unless you plan on cooking A LOT the kitchnette is NOT WORTH IT!!!! The door to the room would not lock, but maintenance did fix that. The recliner (A small one in the corner) did NOT recline and had stains on it. Most of the front desk employees were very nice especially the man and the girl who checked us in and worked afternoons. You have to take your own towels down every day to get new ones. You also have to ask for toilet paper and garbage bags if you want them. You also have to take your own garbage to the trash room. We did NOT get housekeeping for 9 days! SO THIS IS NOT LIKE A REGULAR HOTEL! More like a stinky, little, nasty, old studio apartment. We finally complained as our carpeting was filthy and they sent a maid up to at least vaccum the next day. Another bad thing.....We are not fans of curry and the hallways recked of it! If you like curry then you will be okay with this, but if you don't....then you are going to hate this hotel! One good thing is that the bathroom seemed to be one thing in the room that was updated. We paid $344.00 a week for this hotel so it was reasonable, but what I suggest to people is to go on Expedia like I did and get a 2 1/2 or 3 star hotel for the same price! I would qualify the Extended Stay hotel as a 1 star at the most! We have moved to the La Quinta in Utica for cheaper! Only paying $340.00 a week on Expedia (Their unpublished rates) and this room is clean, nice, and has a frig and microwave. They also have a pool and spa! And in a much better area! It is like going from a Chevy Geo to a Cadillac! LOL
Also...just so you know there are lots of people who stay at this Extended stay hotel as their permanet home and some of the characters are sort of sketchy. We heard lots of people complaining about items being stolen out of their cars. This did NOT happen to us though and we always felt safe honestly, but we did make sure everything was locked up tight. One plus is that they are pet friendly, but so is the La Quinta and lots of hotels now so do some shopping before deciding on the Extended Stay! They did have a Texas Roadhouse right across the street, a Famous Daves BBQ right next door, a Meijers open 24 hours about 2 blocks away and lots of other shops and restuaruants very close, but again the La Quinta we are now staying at has every thing very close too. I would NEVER stay at this hotel again.
I will say that the front desk employees were all VERY nice to us! They made the stay somewhat better so we appreciated them!
