it was worth everything
By mandy, 12/27/09
the staff was very friendly and helpful. it was me and the kids first time in the smoky mountains so i had no clue were anything was they told us about events and other activitys we could do and gave excellent dirctions. we got the room upgrade it was very clean but the best part was walking out the backdoor all you can hear is the peaceful sound of the river and the breathtaking view. the breakfast was also great my picky eaters all found something they liked. the gym and the Heated Pool were also a great bonus. we had an excellent time and we will stay there again and again. and you should to i think you'll love it as much as we did. i hope this was helpful.

Our place in the mountains
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/6/09
The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. We were able to get a nice room with a balcony over looking the Tuckaseegee river. The rooms are clean, spacious and fresh smelling. The free continental breakfast is very good as well. The only dislike we had was the mattresses seemed kind of soft. But that might be becasue we are used to extra firm. All in all we were very satisfied with our stay and would stay there again.

Excellent place, view, and service
By Ibrahim, 8/20/08
We recently stayed there for a night. Although the published price was $179/night - we used a travel coupn and got the room for $79 on a Saturday night. The reception people were very nice and upgraded our room to a room overlooking the Tuskegee river at NO additional cost. Room was very clean and cofortable with mini fridge, micro oven, coffee maker, etc. You can sit on the balcony and stare at the river flowing forever. Very quiet place. Breakfast was excellent with many options - it is not just couple of donuts, cereal, cheap orange juice. If I ever visit this area again I would definitely stay at this motel.

The "Best stay" in many years!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/22/06
The location is beautiful, the facilities are first-rate, the room was gorgeous, clean, spacious, etc! The continental breakfast was more than I expected. The staff was courteous, responsive and helpful from start to finish. This was our (my wife and I) first time at this location, for our 20th anniversary. It was a long-shot since we'd never been there before but it couldn't have worked out better. The staff found a discount that even made the whole stay even sweeter. We will definitely return.

Our Favorite Spot in the Mountains of NC
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/3/06
We've stayed at the Best Western at least eight times over the past few years. The rooms are very nice, clean, and the river view cannot be topped. We've enjoyed the continental breakfast each time, and the location near all the shops in Dillsboro and the Great Smokey Mountain Railroad is so convenient. If you're looking for a great location in Western NC, we highly recommend this Best Western.

Nice and comfortable
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/13/04
I recently stayed three nights at the Best Western River Escape Inn. Front desk was very friendly and upgraded us to a queen sized double at our request when we arrived at no charge. The inn was warmly furnished throughout and had a theme keeping with the beautiful mountains that surround it. We stayed in a balcony room overlooking the river and had an awesome view.

The only major drawback to the inn, and the reason for my giving it 3 stars and not higher, is the fact that the road directly across the river is a major thoroughfare for dump trucks traveling to a nearby gravel quarry. The trucks pass literally every fifteen minutes starting between 6 and 7am and lasting until 5pm. I wish i could say this is a minor annoyance, but if you intend to spend a quiet afternoon on your balacony with a book, prepare to be distracted!

I do intend to book at this hotel again, but I'll definitely be opting for a frontside room. While I didn't spend much time in my room, I was awakened by the gravel trucks on all three mornings, and I prefer a restful nights sleep to the wonderful view -- which can be had from the hotel's fantastic patio.
