Ramada Galena, Galena

Feedback I will never stay at a Ramada again if this is the kind of experience I can expect. I received a call from the front desk explaining that there were complaints about my door slamming when in fact my door had not been slammed once. As I understand, the doors are equipped with a self-closing mechanism, and neither the speed at which the doors close nor the amount of noise they make when they do so are any of my concern. The next morning, we received a threataning letter under the door explaining that there were complaints of our group engaging in disorderly conduct, and making excessive noise in the pool area and hallways. Apparently there was one guest making repeated complaints every time she heard the faintest noise, who just happened to be in the room right next to ours. At no point were there any sort of shenanigans or disorderly conduct in the pool area or hallways. We did visit the pool area, but were respectful and considerate of other guests at all times. This letter, threatening to have us escorted off the premises by authorities, as the staff felt that their physical safety was in jeopardy, was very offensive and insulting to me, my wife and the other members of my party, and the remainder of our stay was uncomfortable, awkward and generally unpleasant. To top all this off, at check out, they tried to charge me a 50 Noise charge, which I refused to pay because we were simply not making that much noise. We are responsible adults with homes and children, not some drunken college kids marauding through the facility, and just because some miserable, bitter customer wants to ruin everyone elses lives or scam your company out of a free room, or whatever the case may be, Im not going to foot the bill for her room discount. Once again, none of my concern. We paid for our room just like everyone else, and we expected to be able to utilize the amenities that were offered and included with our stay. We were never informed that talking or leaving our room and moving about the facility were prohibited. Now, obviously you wont object to the fact that there are some customers you just cant please. Its a simple fact of doing business. But you should seriously consider adjusting your policies to allow staff members to use their better judgment to decide how to handle unfounded and unreasonable complaints, because it has now cost you four customers, as Im sure the other members of my party will not be returning either. The night manager agreed with us, and assured us that the complaining guest was indeed out of line. Not to mention that all this supposed activity took place before 11:00 pm, when quiet hours begin, and we went to bed right around 11 or very shortly thereafter, so i dont understand how noise complaints, especially for normal activity, can even be taken seriously before that time to begin with. So just to make myself abundantly clear, once again, if this is the kind of treatment I can expect when I visit a Ramada, I will gladly take my business elsewhere.

I have stayed at this hotel a few times in the past and loved it. This last visit was our last. Room was dirty, old, beatup table with 2 chairs was the extent of the furniture in this room. The pool is nice and large, but there were no towels available at 7pm on a Saturday night. The breakfast was a joke, only had bread, bagels, french toast, cereals, etc. In the past they had offered biscuits and gravy, which was incredible. Heard slamming doors late at night, I had spoken with another guest who had complained to the person on duty twice and nothing was done about it. In this economy, I would appreciate getting more for our money considering it was a rate of $99 - definately not worth it.

It looks extremely nice but looks can be deceiving. I went to bend down when taking a shower and there was mold/mildew all over on the shower curtain. When I had turned on the air conditioner/fan and came back in the room there was this strange smell that almost smelled damp like a wet or moldy basment. It was hard to tolerate. The pool was freezing and whirlpool was lukewarm. It did have a really nice breakfast buffet and nice deck and patio. There was a very nice woman on the staff who was very accomodating. There were several reviews here that said the same things when I booked the room but I thought maybe people were being too harsh. Now I don't think so. I guess you need to decide what's really important. There are some other really nice hotels and B/B's for the same or less money. I'd check them out ahead of time. The beds dipped a lot so may be hard on a bad back.

Stayed in a king suite 2 nights, Nice room with fireplace/2 person jacuzzi. Clean nice view, good breakfast, large pool and jacuzzi in pool area. good view and location. I thought it was somewhat pricey but a great weekend getaway. Will go back again.

Ramada is attractive on the exterior, but no covered entry or sliding doors, and the lobby is lovely. No elevator. Staff was nice; breakfast room is spacious and food/juice/coffee choices are excellent. Rooms are shabby, furniture looks like rummage sale discards, sheets snap off mattress so you end up sleeping directly on the mattress--no pads. Bed way too soft. Room damp. Galena offers many, many choices of great hotels. Stay in one of those.

There were elder bugs everywhere! And when we complained to the management- they said that the bugs were harmless and could not be controlled! Gross! Everything else was fine, the room was a good siz and the location is great.

This is the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in. People were nice, complimentary breakfast was excellent. Pool and deck was large, clean and open. Wished we could have stayed longer for the outdoor bbq on the deck with a beautiful view of a pond which you are welcome to fish. Very conveniently located. The hotel was very accomodating to the Senior guests, letting them gather for games and social time in the large breakfast room.

We spent two nights in a king suite. Our room was large and included a fireplace, couch and 2 person whirlpool. We especially enjoyed the patio outside our door and the wonderful view. The prices were very reasonable and just a few minutes from town.
