Renaissance Riverboat Suites & Rooms, Galena

I have stayed at the Renaissance Riverboat and Suites three separate times, and it's absolutely wonderful! I stayed in the Golden Era room (one of the Renaissance suites) each time. It has a fireplace in the main room (which is the bedroom) and it's wonderful to fall to sleep with. It has a loft area (for either another couple or two children) and a great whirpool bath off of the main room with a skylight above it. There are great smelling bath salts always left on the side of the tub in a large glass jar for guests. And, if you decide to stay here, go during the Fall when the air gets crispy and go out to the hot tub in the little stone-covered building behind the Renaissance and Riverboat Suites. It's GREAT! One last tip: go to Galena River Wine & Cheese and pick up some Mint Chocolate coffee to make in your in-room coffeemaker - it's delicious, and perfect to have before a day of browsing around the little shops there in Galena. (Call them ahead to make sure they have it in stock!) As I said, I've stayed here several times, and absolutely fell in love with it. I recommend it highly for anniversary trips, weekend getaways, proposing marriage, etc. It's very romantic. I now live in Nashville, TN so I'm not close enough to stay there anymore (I used to be able to drive there within about 45 minutes from where I lived in Illinois) and I miss going there tremendously. I can't say enough about this place: if you go to Galena, Illinois, stay at the Renaissance Riverboat and Suites - you'll love it!
