The Dhanhills, Panchgani
Located in the Rajarhat area of Kolkata, the Vedic Village is just a 20-minute drive from Kolkata International Airport and 40 minutes from the center of the city. One can discover the richness of rural India - acres of endless farmland, sparkling lakes, an amazing variety of birds, flowers and trees, clean air and clear star-studded night skies. This property is used extensively by corporate houses for both Residential programs and day conferences. There are five dedicated conference rooms appropriately called The OM Conference Halls with seating capacity ranging from 30 to 200. There is a wide range of breakout spaces during conferences. This property offers its guests a vast choice of dramatic villas, suites, studios, farmhouse rooms including the super luxury Lakeside Villas and Earth Villas. Each is a testament to architectural achievement where the concrete form and the rural fuse in magnificent harmony. With a spectacular view, the residences transport the guests to another world while ensuring every comfort and luxury of contemporary times.
Valuable items cleared from our room and thrown away. By turns an unhelpful, aggressive and abusive manager. Constant building work and noise. Frequent power cuts ( 6 or 7 a day every day). Don't be fooled by the adverts this is not a peaceful and tranquil village, this is a sprawling suburban estate that has lost whatever charm it ever might have had. It is choked with traffic at the weekends and incredibly noisy. Never in my life have I stayed in a hotel where the manager shouted at me after I made a complaint - that happened at the Vedic Village. I wouldn't go back there if you paid me.
The Hotel was very clean, neat and the food was just superb!!!WE got a room overlooking the valley and it was awesome the stay, food .We have been frequent travellers to mahabaleshwar and Panchgani. But this is the best of the Hotels in Panchgani.
THere are lots of activities at the Hoteland the Staff was really very friendly and helpful. We suggest it to all looking at a quiet , neat and homely place.
Well, I should have read the other review before. It was not a pleasant experience with insects in room, cold tea/coffee in service, confused staff, no internet.. The list goes on.. of things went wrong. The only good part is location (view wise only, not easy to locate though) but thats not enough to give it high rating
I stayed there with family in September 2006 and had a nightmarish experience. The bed linens & towels were dirty, blankets were old, torn and definitely used. When asked, they refused to change them. The service non-existent. 24 hour coffee shop was unavailable till 9 AM in the morning..The dinner closed at 10 PM!! The food quality is nothing to write about. The location was pretty good for 'premium' rooms as they give nice view of the valley from first floor rooms terrace/balcony but the hotel is very inconvenient as they don't have any shop or general service in the premises or nearby. The swimming pool is basically an enlarged bath tub!! The play ground was badly maintained and unsafe for children.
Overall - just avoid it. There must be better options in Panchgani or Mahabaleshwar (20 km from Panchgani)
