Mind-blowing location
Unless you really like watching CNN and ordering room service, isn't the point of vacation travel to get out and do stuff? And if you're undecided among several hotels that meet your minimum requirements (e.g. clean, safe, convenient, free Internet, helpful English-speaking staff), isn't location everything?
OK then let's talk about Shibuya. Those who are traveling to Tokyo to escape the consumerism, youth culture obsession, spiritual bankruptcy, and amorality of the west should choose a different hotel, because this one is right in the center of one of the most mind-blowing modern Asian spectacles I have ever seen: large department stores, a million smaller stores catering to 13 - 21 year olds, a few traditional restaurants, many fast food restaurants, large video displays, blaring speakers competing for your attention, sex shops, pachinko parlors, bars, and herds of young people with crazy clothing and hair. At any given hour you may be overwhelmed, saddened or annoyed, but you will not be bored.
And the hotel really exceeded our min reqs: 2 cat 5 ports right in the desk, a concierge who can find out where obscure bands are playing, indoor access to the JR and subway lines, and a Narita shuttle bus.
