Never, ever, again, total nightmare.
By ,
We had the misfortuned of staying at this hotel for 2 nights. We had no other choice, because all other hotels were fully booked. The hotel was booked in advance of 6 weeks. On arrival we were told that someone had cancelled our booking, and for 45 minutes we were then left wondering what they intended to do about this error on their part. We finally were allocated a room, which I can only say was basic, cramped conditions, and very very stuffy. We were booked into this room for 2 nights. The purpose of our visit to Croydon was to attend a wedding and several other guests had booked into this hotel and had experienced several shall we say "mishaps", but in comparision, it was I and my partner's experience that was the worse by far. We had a very uncomfortable nights sleep on the first evening of our stay. We were met by hostility and bad manners from the hotel reception staff and found out by accident that the full breakfast had to be ordered in advance (we therefore missed our first days full english breakfast) That was our first night and mornings stay. We were out for the rest of the day and after the wedding came back to just fall into bed and have a good nights sleep, ready to face our 7 hour journey home the following day. It must have been about 11.30 pm when we went to sleep . I was awoken at 1.30 am, with what I think was cold water dripping from the ceiling onto my head and the bed. I informed my partner, who immediately went to reception to report the incident. Three members of reception staff came to view the leaking and went off again without any explanation to ourselves. I had to ask them did they intend to find an alternative room, so that we could at least get some sleep, before we faced our long journey home. It was also noted by my partner, that the carpets on corridors leading off from our room were soaked through with water, so that the water leakage must have been along all of that floor too. If you can imagine the film the Titanic when they found that they had hit an iceberg, well thats exactly what it was like. After about another 45 minutes were were allocated another room, and finally got to bed around 2.45 am. This room was filthy, smelling of stale tobacco, the toilet wouldnt flush, the bed linen had holes in it, and the blankets were grubby. I slept on top of the bed because of this. I wouldnt recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. It was a total nightmare and what should have been a lovely experience, was spoiled by this atrocious hotel.

Worst hotel I have been to
By ,
I could not believe my eyes upon entering my room, after travelling all night I had to carry my bags through the whole hotel and up 3 flights of stairs ( not one staff member offered assistance) only to find a room with a hole punched in the bathroom door, stains all over the walls, heater, drapes, window valance as well as cigarette burns in the sheers. There was so much build up of Lime scale on the bathroom fixtures I would not even touch them. The "Garden Area" is a patch of over grown weeds with garbage dumped in it. Yes the hotel has phones, what they don't tell you is that they are only for in coming calls and if you want to call out you must use the phone booth across the street( this was not the nicest area of the city either). I immediately made other arrangements and checked right back out...

This hotel is awful
By ,
This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in the staff hardly speak english and are completely disinterested in their guests. If you are after a continental breakfast then this hotel is not the place to book unless of course cheese slices(wrappers on still), slices of ham and warm orange juice are your thing. If it isnt then you can lookk forward to a few slices of half toasted bread. Please also be aware that you have to pay when you check in. The only positive thing i can say about this hotel is that despite it being a little noisy at certain times i did have a good nights sleep.
