Sleep Inn Slidell, Slidell

The smell of the room we were in on the third floor was horrid! The smell even followed us home, I opened the suit case and everything was damp and mildew smelling! I can not stand the smell. I understand that the hotel flooded but it has been two years. You can NOT charge someone $80.00 for a room that has peices of the ceiling stapled to the ceiling and the mildew smell. There was no fridge or microwave which made a three day stay difficult. The damp feeling of the room was uncomfortable. The shower on the inside gold trim had mildew. The wall paper was peeling off and had mildew behind it. That is a health hazard!!!!!! The phone book in the room was 2001-2002 and the hotel directory was from 2005. They were renovating the second floor of the hotel and had seemed to have already done the first why have the third floor opened? The second floor doors were opened do I stopped to peek and there was mildew all over the walls. Also, we had needed a Non Smoking room and got one but we were surrounded by smoking rooms. It smelt like mildew and cigarettes on the third floor. I am sorry this message is so scrambled but there is just so much to say about this hotel. I will not stay again that is for sure!

We stayed here 3 separate nights as we were volunteering in the relief work in Oct. 2006. The first night we stayed the room was adequetely clean although it looked pretty worn for the age of the hotel. The next time it was a different room. Again, well worn. A day or two later we stayed again as we could not find vacancy at other hotels. Well, this third time was the worst. There was only one room available, it was the handicap room. The lady at the front desk said that hotel had 4 foot of water after the hurricane. So the room was on the second floor. The room smelled strongly of mold. The floor in the bathroom had stuff stuck to it. My husband thought it was grout from a sloppy tile layer but no, he took a wash cloth and mopped the floor and it all came up and the washcloth was brown when he got done. Wanted to check out at that point but where would we go? The last straw was when I turned down the bed and the pillows and bedspread was moldy! I mean the black speckled mold covering the pillows! We immediately checked out and drove and drove till we found something else. I would not stay there again if it was free.

We stayed there in April 2006, it was clean and overall quiet. I found the price fair, since it is hard to find a room since Katrina. The only confusion was at the front desk when we checked in and the Lady was down right rude. if we hadn't made reservations with a creditcard I would have walked away.
