Compassionate Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/4/08
Being an RCI timeshare member I was able to book a room for a young Christian family of 3 whose wife is struggling with breast cancer. She was going to a clinic about three miles from this resort which made it very convenient. The father and the 8 year old son, Ezekial, raved about the area and how it was family oriented. They spent a lot of time along the river with all the activities while mom was receiving treatment. They needed a room with a full kitchen because part of the treatment the mother was going through required a special diet. They stated the hotel was older but they did not care because it fit the bill perfectly for them. One of the service members, Jeff, from Celebrity Resorts, then worked with them and gave them a tremendous rate so they could stay an additional 2 weeks. They anticipated paying $100.00 to $150.00 a night during their stay and this was not possible on a school teachers salary. I believe this whole stay was God driven and they were blessed beyond their highest imagination. Jeff was wonderful and I do thank him for the compassion he showed represently Celebrity Resorts. I called the resort yesterday to personally thank Jeff for his exceptional service and apparently he no longer works there. I certainly hope someone can contact him and I pray he is blessed by God.

Uneasy Feeling
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/1/08
We spent five days in this place over the last few weeks in January. I think to be fair I should list the things that made the "Resort" nice. The parking was underground and located right by the elevators. The staff was friendly and they did clean the room twice as promised. The location is right next to the court district and is an easy walk to the casinos. However the best casinos in town are a mile drive down the road. The showers were warm and everything worked in the room but the beds were like sleeping on concrete. As for the negatives the "Resort" seems to be aged a bit. They advertise that there is a fitness center but it is very outdated and not worth the effort to walk down to it. The carpeting has seen its better days and almost looks like something out of a fraternity house. The rooms were mostly clean however the wallpaper was pealing and the windows did not lock right so there was cold air blowing in at night. All and all this place is good enough to have a roof over your head to sleep but I wouldn't pay attention to details because you might get an uneasy feeling if you really start looking around. Personally they could try to make this place a bit better and hopefully that is the intention. However if I ever go back to Reno or Tahoe again I would look into staying somewhere else. Some other places that looked nice were the Hampton Inn, Legacy Casino, Peppermill, and the Atlantis Casino. Most of these places are located near the convention center. The Legacy Casino is the only one located downtown.

Should be called the "Last Resort"
By DickR, 3/18/07
We flew into Reno on March 13th 2007 for the National Men's Bowling Tournament. We only had 2 weeks notice to fill and and virtually all the casino rooms were booked. We read the reviews on the Leisure Resort in Reno and said we would have faith and give it a try. We checked in early evening. We were told to use the in-room safe (cost of $1.12/day) and were STRONGLY encouraged to use it for all valuables. Walking to the room it looked like a "pay by the hour" flop house. Dirty walls, florescent lights of various hues and an elevator that sounded like it was grinding to its last death. Our room door faced the back of the facility and felt like the slums of Puerto Rico. The room was tired. Light bulb missing in one lamp, the bathroom so small it was hard to get in/out of. The bed must have been around for a decade and must have been the cheapest they could find. The room got really warm (outside was around 80 degrees) so we turned on the air conditioning. It blew hot air. We went down to the desk and the attendant said they would have maintenance check on it but that they had gone home for the day. The next morning we went back to the desk and asked about the air only to be told that our room was on the main building system which had "seasonal" air so there was nothing to be done. It was suggested that we not walk outside at night. The hotel sits next to the county court house and has a wide range of types of travelers. I could go on but there is little point. We can sincerely say that this is a place you should AVOID at all costs. You would be better off staying almost anywhere else.

Never going back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/9/06
We traded a very nice time share in Florida that is right on the beach with a patio and a wonderful view. What we got in Reno was not at all close to the same value. First let me say it was our honeymoon, we get there and there was construction going on all around the "resort" (if that is what you want to call it). Our room had no patio and our view was of the alley, powerlines and old dumpy houses, and on two occasions we got to watch a bum drink beer out of a paper bag. The room itself was at least clean, but we were told it had a full kitchen. It did not. It had a half frig and no counter space. It did have cable that we had to watch on a very small t.v. The bed that was suppose to be a queen but felt like a full and as hard as a rock. Housekeeping was nice enough to give us a foam mat to put on the bed. The water pressure was nil, I couldn't even wash the shampoo out of my hair it was so weak. At check out I was informed that we owed for a daily insurance charge on the safe in our room. I have never been charged at any other resort for the safe in the room. Then when I tried to pay with a large bill they did'nt have change and made me put the $8.31 on my credit card.

FORGET IT!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/22/06
Practically no front desk service. Cold "heated" pool; cold "jacuzzi"; cold "sauna"; card keys that at times don't open the pool, sauna, & jacuzzi area (real nice when you are in your robe and the entrance to the pool area in in an outdoor walkway!!!); coffee maker malfunctions; draft and cold comes in thru the glass sliding door; on check out morning, NO hot water at 7AM, called front desk whom said "been here all night and don't know anything about it", decided to let the freezing water run for 15 minutes, and then it finally warmed up!! At checkout at the front desk, "reminded" of a surcharge for the room safe (which we never used), and it took them 10-15 minutes to process this extra charge on their antiquated computer system (meanwhile, oh I forgot that the last night there the cable TV went out and it never returned until we finally went to sleep at midnite!); when at checkout, I told the clerk if there would be any adjustment of the bill due to the cable TV outage, I was told (with a crappy tone I might add), take it up with the "resort" manager whom had not yet arrived!! (by this time it was 8:30 a.m.). Finally, location wise, it is about 6 blocks from the casinos; not a very nice walk when it is snowing or it has snowed the nite before!.
