Avoid this hotel
By babbo b, 09/15/08
Just come back in Italy from our vacation in the U.S.A. Our last stop was New York and unfortunately we stayed at The Red Roof Hotel. The people that woks there are very rude and very unprofessional. Seems like they were doing us a big favor. The rooms are very small and dirty, hairs all over the place, broken tiles, loose doors and no help what so ever. There is one blond lady at the check in wich is very very rude and superficial. At one point I've decide to leave cause I felt to puch her in the f....ing face. Avoid this hotel. It' s not wort the money, believe me.

Hopefully never again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/07/08
On our recent stay, we found that only one concierge was friendly and helpful. When we first arrived in the room, there were dark hairs all over the place. There is not enough room in the bathroom for 2 people to deposit their toiletries; the shower head was horrible; and there were loose tiles all over. There was hardly any walking space in our room and the closet was too tiny for 2 people to stay a number of days. You would have to take your clothes out of the closet to get to the ironing board and no room to put up the ironing board. The continental breakfast was not very good and we preferred to go elsewhere to eat. We never did hear about the lounge for a drink until our last day. The hotel was close to the Empire State Bldg. and Macy's. The hotel staff is not friendly and we would not stay there again.

Loved It!

I thought this hotel was great! Very clean inside the hotel, as well as our room. Great location to sights and subways. The continental breakfast was great. Cereal, bagels, yogurt, coffee and juices! Would stay there again, anytime.

Right by Empire State Building, can't lose the hotel. Great location by Penn Station (2 blocks) 2 adults, 21 yr & 14 yr sons stayed 3 nights nice amount of room. Put your suitcases over by the window and there is lots of room Easy to get to Good continental breakfast to get going We liked it a lot

Stay away from this one
By M, 04/09/07
Like: Location Dislike: Rude, VERY RUDE staff, liars, rip-off, worst stay ever. They charge your creditcard without notifying you on beforehand for amounts other than your rent. Once detected (chech out) it is too late. Be carefull!!! For that price there are many other good hotels in New York. DO NOT GO HERE!! Really you should not go here if you don't have to.

stay was ok
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/03/07
the location is great you are around all the site seeing places and it is a very good place to stay for that reason however the front desk was a little on the not so profeesional side. I dont think they have been taught very well in the manner department. I would stay there again being that I dont have to deal with them often and like I said the location was great

Stay at RED ROOF INN close to everything & clean
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/16/06
We loved the fact that we were close to everything. 1 block from subway, which put you at about 10mins away from everything in New York. Couple blocks to Macys and other shopping. Close to places to eat (a sweet shop across the street, and the Mandoo Bar down just a couple of doors, try the Dumpling Sampler). Walking distance to Times Square. My Husband an I usually prefer to stay at sheraton hotels, but we were not willing to fork over the big bucks to stay there in New York. We chose Red Roof for the price. They gave us the AAA discount too. Clean rooms. No frills. Larger than what I thought we were going to get in NYC. Breakfast offered on the 2nd floor in the morning isn't great. Think of it as fuel for the morning. Or stop by the sweet shop across the way for breakfast. Elevators were SLOW. But who cares you're in New York! DO go to the World Trade center memorial. Do go to Katz Deli, for a corned beef on Rye. DO go to Chinatown for great Handbags and sunglasses. Do go to Normas for the Blueberry pancakes with Devonshire cream, Do get the bacon, and the fresh squeezed OJ.
