Just Tell Us you don't wnat us!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/08/10
We stayed here twice the first time was very nice, however I had a restircted diet and when Ted served the breakfast he pointed out to the other guests that "she can't eat the breakfast we planned so hope you enjoy this!. Next visit, we told Ted we would not be having breakfast, no bit deal we were told. But, Chirs saw my husband and told him off for not showing for breakfast!!! This two people are without a doubt the rudest owners of a B&B we have ever met. And by the way the rated are the outrageous!! Go to the Equinox or the 1811. You'll like it much better, and be treated like a guest, not someone who wasn't invited!!

A beautiful Inn and Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/07/08
I have found that when looking to stay at an Inn in New England, you get what you pay for. And I do not mind paying to stay at this indulgent Inn. I have never been disappointed in the Inn at Ormsby Hill. The rooms are spacious, impeccably kept, and every attention to detail is made- right down to aging the wood so it snaps and crackles in the fireplace! My favorie room is Frances- With gorgeous views, and a fainting couch which is perfect for curling up with a good book. The breakfasts are amazing- who ever heard of dessert after breakfast!?! I have read of some complaints on other sites, and I felt strongly about mentioning- Yes, there are some "house rules"...But doesnt every home have them? I dont feel that using coasters is an undue burden, nor is letting them know if/when I will be down for breakfast. Rather I consider what they ask merely reminders of common courtesy. I cant wait for my next stay in June!

nice, but overpriced
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/05/07
The Inn was clean. I am very picky in that regard, and by my standards it was clean, but not immaculate. I liked the fact that they left the doors open to the rooms that were not rented out, so you could look in and see them. Most of the rooms are decent in size, but not all. Unfortunately we were in the smallest room. It had a king size bed, while some of the larger rooms had queen beds. That kind of threw me off, because I assumed that the large rooms would have the larger beds, and so forth. Our room did have A/C, but unfortunately we could not control it ourselves. They would turn it up/down if you asked, but that is a little inconvenient at 3 am when you are shivering. They do also provide a community refrigerator, which was a nice touch that I had not seen at other Inns. They also provide teas and soda all day. The tea water was kept in a carafe, and was cold by the evening. Their website and literature rave about their "breakfast dessert". We stayed 2 nights and never saw it. Both breakfast were an egg dish, a frittata and a quiche. The were both good, but average at best. I guess I was also looking for more of a variety between days. The place is nice, but overall, not wonderful, and certainly not worth the price they charge.

we plan our vacations around the Inn
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/29/06
We have stayed at the inn on our last 2 visits to Vermont. Our room (Taft)is very comfortable and we love to sip wine after a day of sightseeing in the sitting room. Ted and Chris are gracious hosts and the breakfast is delicious. We wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. Thanks for the magic..............pam & jim

Don't bother
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/14/05
The owners Ted and Chris seemed like they would rather be doing anything but run the Inn. I did not feel warm and welcome. Our room was nice but small. It did have a fireplace, but they didn't have it "turned on" yet. ( late Sep.) I wish they had told us that when I asked for a room with a fireplace. The breakfast was late. For the money, I would find another place to stay. Very sad as this was our anniversary.
