Olde Marco Island Inn and Suites, Marco Island

We recently stayed at Olde Marco Island Inn and Suites and the suite was clean, spacious and quiet. With the exception of one burned out light bulb, we experienced no problems with the suite. However, having stayed at hotels that provide everything from free coffee, cookies and breakfast buffets, we were surprised and disappointed to find that none of those amenities are offered in the lobby at the Olde Marco Inn. Given the nightly rate to stay here, we thought that these things would be freely available in the lobby. The people working in the lobby were very cordial and welcoming each time that we stopped by the lobby, but we did notice that the hours that the lobby was open were somewhat short, compared to other hotels. For example, it opens at 8 a.m., and at 7:56 the lobby was locked and the lights were off. Overall, the stay was okay, but for the money, I would stay at a Courtyard Marriott or some similar hotel next time. Almost forgot to mention, since the Inn is not near the beach, you have to drive to the public beach parking and pay $8.00 just to park. So, if you came to spend time on the beach each day, you don't want to stay here. Stay at a beachfront hotel and avoid the beach parking hassles and cost.

My husband and I booked a trip to Marco Island as our last getaway before baby (I am 7 months pregnant). We booked our first night at Olde Marco. We arrived late and were not concerned because our receipt says that late check in is guaranteed. When we called for directions, there was NO ANSWER, we called more than 10 times. There was also no voice mail or instructions for check-in. We went to another hotel to ask for directions and when we arrived the place looked abandoned. It was dark and completely closed up. We drove around the property, we walked around the property. We were on the property for over an HOUR. We called expedia, who called every available number they had and still there was no answer. We had no choice but to stay at another hotel and at this point it was 2 in the morning, I'm pregnant and feeling horrible. We ended up spending 300 dollars for a room that night and Olde Marco is refusing to return our money which brings our late night adventure up to $450!! At this point in time, the hotel is refusing to return our money (pre-paid on expedia) because apparently there is a "Red Phone" for late check-in that we were supposed to "magically find" though there were no directions about this when we booked, nor any voice mail directions. I have never given a hotel a bad review, but this customer service and unwillingness to return our money has turned my stomach and I would not recommend this hotel.

The Olde Marco Island Inn & Suites was perfect for our family. We had a beautiful two-bedroom suite that was beautifully decorated, clean, and comfortable. Our two children, ages 14 and 10, enjoyed the quiet pool area that also had some water toys. No, it's not located on the beach, but we prefer a quiet location anyway. The beach was just a short drive away. The service was outstanding-- our rooms were cleaned and stocked every day. Many restaurants (including the onsight ones) are in the area. We ate mainly at our room, since the kitchen had nice amenities for cooking. A high point of the trip was taking the inn's boat ride to a private island for shelling. We definitely recommend The Olde Marco Inn for a memorable vacation spot.

The rooms are very spacious and comfortable, good beds, and our unit opened onto a large screened in porch - very nice! Although located in a quiet part of the island you can walk to some good restaurants and the pool/garden area are great. All of the important stuff is well done, but some of the details need attention: the bedroom carpets were very dingy and needed cleaning, and one of the bathrooms had a large hole in the wall where a towel rack had fallen off. Our room had an ancient VCR and no DVD player. Lousy internet service. If you're looking for a five-star hotel this is definitely not the place, but it's very comfortable.

Arrived early, told check in time was 4 PM, asked if they could check when the room would be ready. They could not. Returned after 4 PM. Given keys, not told of any resort amenities. On check out was charged a $9 resort fee, and at that time told all about the amenities that the fee covered. My confirmation had not mentioned a resort fee, essentially adding $9 to the room rate. The manager said he would credit my account. Never received the credit.

This place made us feel like we never left home. The people at the front desk were very friendly and welcoming. Our room was so comfortable and very, very clean. It was so beautifully decorated, it took my breath away when I first walked in the front door. The rooms are very spacious with a private balacony to see the sunset with the one you love. Very romantic. We had dinner at the Olde Marco seafood restaurant and their food was excellent. The Inn is very quaint and its courtyard is beautifully landscaped. Even though the beach is not close by, we will definitely be coming back again for another stay.
