Forget it
By GM1258, 5/2/13
I liked it much better when it was a youth hostel. You could share a dorm room for $20 a night. The new place is overpriced with a lot of noise. Recommend a private room in the youth hostel across the tracks for $30. Much nicer and much quieter.

$54 - NOT!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/26/10
Called for reservations & they told me their rooms run $80-$120 - with one room for $49 that's not recommended because it's right across from the tracks. Where does the $54 avg nightly stay Yahoo Travel lists come in?

Staff was awesome!
By CherylB, 4/13/09
After reading reviews warning about the hotel being noisy from the train tracks, we decided to stay here anyways. We came in to town on Amtrak and the hotel was within walking distance. We were greeted by Matt, and he was great. We could hear the noise from the tracks, but I think you could from any hotel in town. The in house restaurant was excellent!

Why not just sleep on the tracks?
The hotel is charming and the staff was friendly and helpful. If you want to actually sleep, pick a different city, because the trains in Flagstaff go by every 20 minutes with their air horns blaring all the way. It literally sounds like you are on the tracks. The hotel owners need to decide if they are running a nightclub or a hotel. Here's a hint - if you are renting rooms to guests who aren't involved in whatever function you are having at the hotel, they expect to actually get what they are paying for - a good night's sleep. That means you need to wrap up the function well before 2:00AM. Don't worry - the trains will keep them up after that anyway.

No way never again.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/14/08
Would never stay there again. Very overpriced for what you get. The room is tiny and the bathroom is a joke. The pipes knock and ping all night from the steam. Worst of all the train goes by and blasts the horn all night long. Zero sleep. Restaurant was horrible and overpriced. Its not quant or historical just a waste of money and was very disappointed.

It is a comforting place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/8/07
I was warned about lack of modern amenities -no phone, no television, bathroom in the hall- when i made reservations. The hotel is functional and charming and lively and very nicely decorated for the holidays. Staff is courteous and helpful. The water is hot; the sheets are clean. Charly's food is superior. I am 83 years old and climbed the flights of stairs to my room on the 3rd floor and fell asleep with people laughing, drinking and eating in the hotel and the trains running nearby. And the Zane Grey room was just down the hall. Much better than a quiet, dull motel with no history!

We were married here
By Havasu Girl, 12/19/06
The Weatherford Hotel is beautiful. We were married in the summer of 2002 at the Weatherford. I couldn't have picked a better place. The wedding planner and staff were gracious and they handled everything. The food is to die for. The Zane Grey room is a terrific room to have an intimate wedding. The the balcony overlooking the city made for wonderful pictures and memories. I have gone back since and will do so again and again.

Sleepless in Flagstaff
By ken, 10/5/06
Weatherford has great potential but still needs lots of work. I was thoroughly warned about the train noise, and I'd brought some earplugs (the silicon kind) but they were no match for the blaring of a train horn every ten minutes all night long. If you stay there get those foam earplugs that block out everything or expect to get no sleep. This wouldn't be nearly the problem it is if the hotel replace the original single-pane double hung windows, which are in really bad shape as it is, with new double (or better triple) pane windows. As for the room it was seedy but clean, with the smallest bathroom I've ever seen in a hotel. Three walls were weird blue sponge-painted but the back great old style wallpaper. The original door still had the transom window on top. I hope they do some real renovation but maintain the character. Otherwise with the train noise I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

We'll be back...
By nance Killion, 9/13/06
We had the pleasure to visit the Weatherford last May and are looking forward to a return visit. The staff was friendly and very accomodating, the room clean and quaint...including the clawfoot tub. The view from the upstairs balcony was beautiful. The location was convenient to all. The proximity to the tracks was a non-issue. If there was a negative, it would be that parking was scarce, but we managed. Kirk and Nance

Great atmoshere
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/24/06
Weatherford is cheap, central and ooziing atmosphere. The staff are great and avoid the sort of flim flam you often get elsewhere. It is an old building (1890s) and was once the phone exchange. The owner has gone to some lengths to retain the original features and supplement this with old phots of the place a century ago. True the Burlington, Northern and Santa Fe Railroad frequently reminds you of its presence but again its all part of the package. Its right in the middle of Flagstaff nightlife so plan to be active until the wee small hours or at least in a condition not to hear. The food is great and the bars, especially the upstairs bar with a balcony over the street are right on the nail.
