Super clean, quiet, great value hotel
I stayed at the Ameritel Inn Boise Spectrum in April 2007 with my husband and three young children. We had a blast! I wasn't thrilled with the price we paid for the room, but after staying here I've decided it was well worth it, every penny!
The Pros: Very clean room. No smells. No allergens (our little family is very sensitive to allergens), large rooms, comfortable beds, clean & large bathroom. The TV is large and the volume goes up high enough so you can hear the TV while your children are talking/playing. The construction of the room is such that you can't hear hallway noises, outdoor noises, or the people in the rooms next to you. This hotel is near the Boise airport, but far enough away that you can't hear the airplanes.
The complimentery evening gourmet cookies are delicious and a fun treat. The lobby is clean and elegant. The service was wonderful (no lazy, impolite workers here).
The breakfast buffet is situated in their living/dining area with a gas fireplace, 2 big screen TVs, comfortable sofas, and round cafe tables. The free breakfast buffet is fantastic! It has foods for every diet. The eggs and sausage are "real" and of high quality. The melons (in April mind you) were flavorful, had good texture, and fresh. They were not previously frozen (I hate that). There were pastries, bagels, bread, muffins, granola, cereals, oatmeal, belgian waffles, coffees, teas, 100% juices, 1% and 2% milk, whole fruit, canned fruit, etc. The free wireless internet was a plus. I used it at the pool and in the lobby/dining area.
The pool: wow. It was great for a hotel pool. The water is heated to a perfect temperature. When you walk into the water, it's as if you're walking into a perfectly drawn bath of warm, but not Hot water. The hot tub's temperature was perfect as well. It was hot enough to relax your muscles and sooth your soul, but not too hot that you can't stay in it for a good 10-20 minutes. The jets in the hot tub are good too. The fitness room is awesome! You have to use it. It's not your typical hotel fitness room. It has several pieces of new cardio equipment, a TV, and weight machines. Back to the pool...the ventilation is excellent. I love the 10+ foot tall arched windows that line the pool area. You can see a rock waterfall feature just outside the pool room. Also, there are showers and bathrooms near the pool for you to use. The chemical levels in the pool were too high. It caused rashes on mine and my children's skin. It also irritated our eyes (took about 18 hrs to go away). The rashes went away overnight.
Ameritel Inn's location is convenient. It's close to the airport, within a 7 minute drive to the capitol, BSU, and the mall. There are several great restaurants within an easy/enjoyable walking distance. Also, the Imax theater as well as a 21 plex theater is located next door. I took my children to the theater, a mexican restaurant, and Artist for a Day. Artist for a Day was fun! You can paint ceramic pieces at their store and pick them up a few days later (they've been treated and fired). You can also request a rush order.
All in all our stay was wonderful and pleasant. The price had a great value linked to it. The pool visits, fitness center, and breakfast would have cost as much as the hotel stay in itself if we did it outside of our hotel stay. We'd definitely stay here again!
