Gross
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/11/11
My office booked this hotel for me and 3 others using a discount service. They've booked it for us here before and we keep asking for a better place, even if it costs a few bucks more. Well, this time we are pushing even harder to get out.
The rooms are damp and musty. The carpets have stains. The breakfast is stale and bland. The lighting in the rooms is hard on the eyes. The internet is very slow and sometimes doesn't even work at all. The showers are moldy.
I had to change rooms because the 1st room I was placed in had roaches. When I went to the front desk, I was told 1) They are likely just water bugs. Those are normal for the south. Now, I'm from the south myself--lived here all my life. I know the difference between a water bug and a roach, and even if it was a water bug, I don't want to sleep in an bug infested room. The comforter also had 2 small holes in it. They looked like burn holes, which is odd because I was not on a smoking floor.
Then the desk clerk told me 2) Well, I can go up and try to squash them for you.---Um, no. If there are a few you see and squash, there are probably more were those came from.
Finally she moved me to a new room around midnight.
In the morning, I thought to put a bottle of water in the mini fridge of my new room, as it would be my office for the day. I opened the mini fridge, only to find multiple boxes of someone else's leftovers still sitting in there. YUCK! I took these to the front desk, informing them that clearly my room had not been thoroughly cleaned because old food was in the fridge.
Then, this morning, the morning clerk coming up to me and thanked me for the left overs. She then proceeded to tell me all about the stray cats that she feeds and how they loved the red rice stuff. I never opened the containers and didn't know what was in them. All I knew was it was some else's food and I had no clue how long it had been left there to mold and stink. The idea of keeping it and feeding it to even stay cats (feeding stays is a problem too) was just gross!
Today, (day 3) when I met up with my other co-workers and told them about the bugs and the cat food lady, one of my co-workers exclaimed her room was bug infested too. She said she saw mold, the carpet was damp, and when she woke up this morning, she was covered in bug bites. So this place doesn't just have roaches, and mold--it has bed bugs!
Neadless to say, we will not book here in the future. We are evern trying to get a new hotel for the rest of our week long stay in Beaufort.
I've stayed at 3 other hotels in Beaufort before: Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, and Comfort Suites. Those were all clean and nice. There is no reason for Sleep Inn to be bad like this.
