Not worth the money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/4/08
None of the rooms have 2 queens; if you need more than one bed you have to deal with a double. The bedding is very nice, but for the money I would stay at the Sheraton (it has complimentary shuttle service to downtown,) the Crowne Plaza, or the Hotel Rubie Marie - all have great beds and nicer rooms. Location is a plus, but parking is extra and it costs $12/night. I stay in Madison about once a month; I will never stay at the Hilton again. It's just not worth the money.

Need free wireless internet in rooms, lose $12 parking surcharge
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/15/07
$10.00/24 hour of internet access in guest room at a $120+/night hotel in the middle of a city that offers free wi-fi hotspots everywhere in the immediate vicinity is ridiculous Elevators may or may not take you directly to parking structure without switching elevators at the lobby level. Park in front of hotel to unload, bring car up to front of hotel before loading. (much easier) Don't forget your room card in your guest room if you need to go anywhere and use the elevators between 11:30PM-5:30AM, you will not be able to use the elevator, and stairway will not allow you to get directly to the lobby. Good security feature. Clean rooms and good service from front desk, if money is no object, a fine choice. A coupon for two free water bottles from the gift shop is included with your stay. Parking lot below hotel is great for guests who are also Madison Business Club members, recommend joining for best parking spots (i.e. across from elevators). Watch for cars.

service was great!
By s, 11/12/06
The rooms were pleasantly appointed and staff fell all over us when we stayed here. They couldn't have been any nicer or more helpful. I left my camera behind and they not only found it but shipped it to me right away. I can't believe they found it! If I go back, I won't hesitate to stay there again.

Park Down the Street and Save
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/9/06
Nice standard, small Hilton with great location on the lake and near the capitol and fabulous Saturday farmer's market. But please park in the public parking that is just down the street and save the money for some amazing local produce at the market.

Plenty of other hotels in Madison
By Steve aka X, 7/7/06
We have stayed at a few other Hilton Hotels and were very satisfied, especially the Hilton in Knoxville (Alcoa), TN. but we were disappointed with the Hilton Monona Terrace in Madison. Reasons: 1. Their indoor pool is 3 - 3 1/2 feet deep and my wife who is 5'1" walked the length of the pool in 15 steps. It was basically a large bathtub. The picture on the site makes it look huge. 2. We went down for dinner at the Restaurant where they informed us it was reservation only.. which it never says anywhere. That's fine but they were very rude when saying it. 3. The parking garage.... there is only one way out. It do not circle around like most garages so once you get to the bottom you have to try and make a U turn somewhere if there are no spots and go all the way back to the top to get out. The spots are super small and the driving path is so tight you are lucky if you can get a car from each direction to pass each other bye. We ended up having to park at a parking garage down the street. Positives to the hotel... some of the people working there were very nice, especially room service. The view of the Lake Monona is great but you have to pay extra if you want a guaranteed room to see it. My advice, stay somewhere cheaper where you will get the same service for cheaper and actually get a pool to swim in.

needs better lighting
By paul, 1/31/06
4 bad things at thilto were: 1. bad bathroom lighting. 2. stained sheets. 3. house keeping left a note with writing similar to a 6 yr old kids writing. 4. dishes still on the hall floor at 4pm from breakfast. but it was still a nice place to stay.

This was an amazing experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/30/05
I liked this Hotel because it was well designed. Very classy. I am 13 but even I loved it. The reason I was there is because I was invited to help babysit at a Wedding Reception. And I was also invited to stay the night at that hotel where everyone else was. It was an amazing and fun night for everyone. My friend was with me and we had a blast. I would love to go there and stay a night again, maybe the night after I get married. I also loved the view of Lake Monona. The rooms came with the capability of Ordering Movies, Internet Access, and Video Games. It was fun to be here and I can't wait to go there again! Hopefully very soon!

save your money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/16/05
We hated this place because it is already very expensive for lodging alone, and then they tacked on surcharges for little things that oftentimes are included free at other hotels. For example, there was a 95 cent charge for every local call that extended to a per minute charge beyond a certain time period. They also charged $10/night for parking in their cramped, dangerously constructed parkade (where all the parking spots that were near the elevator entry were "reserved" for Madison Club members, instead of paying guests). No continental breakfast, and room service was mediocre. The pool was very small, and didn't have much of a view, despite their prime location adjacent to Lake Monona and the Capitol building. The location is great--right downtown, within walking distance to all the sites, including UW campus. However there are plenty of other more affordable hotels in the area that provide way better service. If you have plenty of money that you like to throw around for no good reason, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, don't donate anymore pocketmoney to Paris' party allowance.

Great views, average service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/19/05
Located right downtown - walking distance from State Street and many office buildings. Nice views of the capitol building or the lake. Service was unremarkable and there were often lines at the front desk, but overall a good experience. They do not honor the government rate during the summer.
