BUGS! BEWARE
My two children and I stayed in this hotel in September for one night. We had a such a great time with the pool and great location to the harbor and farmers market, we went back for two nights in October. I was excited we found such a great weekend getaway from Seattle. I added it to my list of top favorites.
This is when the nightmare began. The first night I layed down with my children to get them to sleep. I was in the bed for about an hour. I felt a couple sharp pricks on my arm, I looked and had two little welts with a very small red spot in the center. I called the front desk, asked if they had any bug issues. The said no, I'd looked at the great reviews, my children were sleeping I dismissed it. Today I soak myself and my children each night in an epson salt bath to give us reprieve from the biting bugs we continue to experience. This is important because I didn't notice anymore bites the rest of the weekend. The hotel has a saltwater pool! we spent a fair amount of time in the pool Saturday and Sunday. Hence, no other noticable bites. A concern of bugs had far left my mind when we got home Sunday night. Tired I put on the same PJ's I had worn on that first Friday night and layed down. I immediately started getting bit!!! I got up put the PJ's in a plastic bag along with all the other clothes from our weekend and put them in the washer. I thought this would be the end of it.
It is now a month later. They are in the couch, the carpet, the beds, our clothes. It is a living nightmare!! I am severly sleep deprived. I wash our bedding everyday, I purchased an expensive high heat vapor cleaner and clean with it everyday. It helps but doesn't get them all. Despite having young kids I brought in an exterminator this weekend and had chemicals sprayed throughout the house. They are still here!!
The hotel will take no responsibility because their exterminator didn't find anything (mine hasn't either). If it wasn't for the two bites and putting on those same PJ's, I would not have known they came from the hotel.
I called the hotel a few days after my stay, after washing my clothes, after knowing the bugs continued to be an issue. I spoke with one of the managers, he told me they had only had one other complaint in the summer, it was from a different room. I'm not sure the general manager I dealt with from then on would have shared this information. He was very pleasant to deal with and promptly got their exterminator out to document the problem wasn't with them.
I have NO other complaints about this hotel. I am sad we have to cross it off are list of favorites. However, they have a BUG issue and are not taking responsibility. My little mini vacation turned into a nightmare I could NEVER NEVER have imagined! The exterminator will be spraying chemicals in our house throughout the holidays. Our holidays will be quite memorable this year thanks to the Phoenix Inn.
